After reading how happy Huberdeau is to be back on the left I feel Sutter sticking him on the right, seeing that is doesn't work then leaving him there should be fireable on its own.

Keeping Kadri with Huberdeau, after seeing for months that it isn't working, is just one of the strangest things I've ever seen. Maybe in a few years they'll finally click.

Let us be thankful that he is playing Huberdeau in his natural position again. Baby steps.

Nice to see change, but it needs a few more tweaks.
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Toffoli
Pelletier - Kadri - Dube
Mangi - Backlund - Coleman
Ritchie/Lewis - Ruzicka - Duehr

Good thing he had 82 games to figure out his lines, wouldn't want to run out of time. /s

That lineup is too perfect! Sutter would never go for it!

I'd love to hear Sutter's reasoning for putting Huberdeau on the right in the first place. I mean, it doesn't seem like Huberdeau was comfortable with it at all, and it obviously didn't pay off. Doesn't suit his style, either. So, why play your 10.5m winger out of position? To accomodate other players? It just makes no sense.

The fact he was on the right side until this point is insane to me. The season is basically lost and now you do it? So, so, so stupid. Also, like, sounds like nobody talked about it? Wtf?
Sutter really should be canned, unbelievable.

Probably because he doesn't care. When he looks at the team all he can see is 12 Milan Lucics. That's how they are coached to play.
Anyone remember when we traded for Tanguay and Sutter said he would tried and centre because he played it in junior and Tangs was quick to kill that idea.
I don't think he talks to his players and understands what role they are comfortable in.

It would be understandable if there was a Johnny hockey taking up the left side spot. I just shake my head that he’s played hubby on the wrong side so the likes of lucic and Ritchie fit in. Said it once and I’ll say it again , Sutter is one stubborn coach.

Just looking at it on frozen pool and it looks like this:
21.6%: Lucic - Kadri - Huberdeau
19.2%: Huberdeau - Lindholm - Toffoli
17.8%: Pelletier - Kadri - Huberdeau
6.8%: Huberdeau - Backlund - Coleman (not sure who was LW/RW)
6.3%: Mangiapane - Kadri - Huberdeau (not sure who was LW/RW)
3.6%: Ritchie - Kadri - Huberdeau
2.9%: Huberdeau - Backlund - Lewis
1.9%: Huberdeau - Backlund - Toffoli
1.9%: Huberdeau - Kadri - Toffoli
My takeaways are:
- Sutter is bad at creating lines
- Flames forward depth is bad
That 19.2% with Lindholm and Toffoli, if memory serves, was at the start of the season and then everything was blown up after the loss to the Oilers. It seems they went back to it briefly early in November.
Worth noting Sutter changed his lines completely after game 7 of the season - when the team had a 5-2-0 record. They then lost 6 straight.

Makes no sense.
Why not put Lindholm on defence or Andersson in net?

Sutter is really not doing himself any favours this season. No one is gonna miss him if he does get fired this offseason, tho doubtful in that happening.

If you read stuff regarding his time in LA (like from Doughty) Sutter doesn’t talk to players about stuff like that.
Which yeah…seems weird.

You say that as a joke but last month in a game we had some injuries and he told Lindholm he would be playing defence no lie. Forget which game it was.

Sutter knows he does not have to play Lucic every-night? Give him rest and let him have a game every two weeks for #### sakes. He is done and has no place on any roster. Embarrassing that it is 2023 and the Calgary Flames have Milan Lucic as an everyday player. Tanking level ####
The trade was a win until the Flames decided they would continue to trot him out their well past his expiration date. Id gladly have bought out Neal then seeing him take a spot for a productive player this entire season. It was beyond evident Lucic was completely done half way through last season. Jesus christ, this team needs to do something 100 times to finally realize something that was obvious months ago.
