If not for the Flames struggles the West could be quite fascinating this year. Theoretically all of Vegas, Dallas, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Seattle, and Colorado could be at 82 points at 65 games played. No one has established themselves as the being the best team yet.

I'm very surprised that the Avalanche didn't do more at the deadline this year. Lars Eller is okay I guess. The west is wide open this year and with all of the player movement I would have thought that they would make a couple moves to shore up their forward depth.
