I wouldn't call it "all in on a rebuild". I don't know if I would even call it a re-tooling? They may have decided that at 8 pts out the odds are against them. But they are still long term on Duchene, Forsberg (whose injury may have helped move some of these trades along), Johansen, Josi, McDonagh, and Soros. They made 5 moves so far - 2 to acquire players. I think the equivalent is the Flames moving Taffoli, Dube, & Weegar and taking back a $4 mil d-man.

NSH does have cap space now, and they have 22 picks over the next 2 drafts. They'll be able to both restock the prospect pool and trade for useful guys.

I don't think CGY is in a position to make retooling as easy.

Predators are having a fantastic trade deadline as they were a team treading water on a slow decline. If they can make good with these picks they may be able to turn the team around in a couple of years without having to go with a scorched earth rebuild. I wish the Flames could be this proactive.

Why would the Penguins…that’s just a baffling decision.
He'll be a better fit on Pittsburgh. They have tons of speed.

No chance this year, but their cap situation next year is pretty good. They could be a threat, maybe one last run. Crosby brought them 3 cups, they owe it to him to give it another run

Yeah they don’t really have a choice with the position they are in, I just don’t see it happening.
