why are people even throwing Toffolis name around as a comparison? He's having a career year and is vastly outperforming Niederreiter. Toffoli is on pace for 70 points ... Niederreiter hasn't hit 50 in a season in 4 years.

just trying to settle on Toffoli's trade value- if it is a 2024 2nd, I'm in no rush, you can get a better return at next year's deadline
if he's a late first even then- not sure you can't get that again next year- so I guess its whether its worth dismantling now (there are pros and cons to this) and starting to deal with next years cap problem now or not
|
I don't think we dismantle and if he keeps up his play next season or even if it's off a bit I think his value stays the same plus the dollars are easy to move cap wise.
Brad was able to get good returns on lesser players at the deadline with Glencross and Russell. I think he could do the same with Tanev and Toffoli next season if we are in the same position.

Niederreiter has had a couple of Toffoli-like seasons, but he has also been more like Coleman, more often.

The Price is Right rules apply here. The winner is the closest without going over. Niederretier's PPG is over Coleman's so therefore he's closer to Toffoli!

Because to some, Flames player suck and other players around the league are always better

CBJ has always been the abbreviation for Columbus.

Apparently I haven't watched any Nashville this year, thought he still played in Carolina.

But it shouldn’t be. It breaks convention. It should be CLB.
The league also screwed up Vegas with VGK. Those two formats break how all other teams have been abbreviated through history.
The only teams with their team name letter added are those that fall under two characters. TB, SJ, NJ, NY, NY, and LA. The rest are a proper shortening of the city/state.
DRW or TML isn’t used so why CBJ and VGK. I’ll die on the hill it should be CLB and VEG. (Really it should be LVK if the team was just named properly).

Going further, why is Washington WSH and not WAS, Nashville is NSH not NAS but Colorado is COL. I get why Calgary is CGY because there used to be CAL (Golden Seals).

Why is FLA not FLO, MTL not MON, WPG WIN, and EDM not ENG?

Because those all sound and look stupid. Just like Was and Nas. But Col still sounds like how Colorado is pronounced. Most of them are obvious if you think about it. It’s pretty straight forward.

ENG hilarity aside, you're really just pointing out that there is no actual convention.
TAM vs TBL
SLB vs STL
I prefer the former of NAS/NSH and WAS/WSH, but the latter make more sense if you were to verbalize the word (be it in your mind or out loud)...PHI vs PHL?
With both Columbus and Colorado I'm not sure either should get COL, but there also isn't a sensible alternative for the Avs...unless its AVS?

You need to go to even strength points and power play time. Toffoli is on the top line for PP here and that accounts for a chunk of those points. Is Niederreiter on the PP1 in Nashville? As bad as our PP has we being on the top line nets you points.

Toffoli has 34 even strength points (+7), Niederreiter has 22 (-9).
