Any of Lindholm, Backlund, Toffoli, Hanifin, Zadorov, or Tanev could likely get a small ransom with 1.5 years left on their deals and all having decent seasons.

But wont happen.

And really if this breaks down to a 1st and 2nd for O'Reilly and a 3rd for Acciari its not really a ransom. Just a fair return

Surprise we don’t see more three way deals like this to retain salary. Easy way for teams with excessive cap space to retain salary and get essentially free assets.

Lindy is 4 years younger and twice the player at this stage in their careers. I'd hope we would get a better deal and shouldn't do it.

That's fun.

Feels like a good gamble for TO. Seems like exactly what they needed.

We could probably own the next two drafts.

ROR is going to help the Leafs a lot.

Cap hit of $1.875 million but only costing the Wild like $75k in real money because most of RoR salary has already been paid out as a signing bonus.

edit: Math was wrong

The Flames have never had that kind of foresight. They love mediocrity.

The wild win tonight and are sitting in a playoff spot, trade cap space for a 4th? Not sure why players would want to play for them. If they are going to rebuild they should just sell everyone. Current players can't be happy about this

Dubas didn't really have a choice. Unless they win a Cup he's getting fired.

Weird that the Wild are retaining salary for just a 4th when they’re right on the wildcard line. You’d think they’d want cap room for their own adds.

I was thinking the same thing, 2M in space is pretty big for deadline day.
Seems a bitch sketchy TBH, like they're doing TO a favor lol.

Blues won the Cup a few years ago, and are now stacking up on ‘23 picks.

I am jealous of both of those things.

I’m guessing the Wild don’t see themselves as buyers and have the opportunity to get an asset without giving up much…plus they can help facilitate getting O’Reilly out of their division and weaken a division rival in the short run.

I don’t know about that. Certainly has to get them past round 1 and probably round 2. Think his job is safe if they go to conference finals.

The deal the Oilers should have been making, not looking at Karlsson IMO
