Slava,
I wish I had someone to recommend personally but I really don't. Heck, I over did it tonight with food myself. Like officially out of control . I did find this link that might put you in touch with some qualified people. https://www.albertahealthservices.ca...page16475.aspx
There are answers to your questions from qualified professionals and I hope whatever you are looking for or wanting to improve in, works best for you!
All the best.

Is she a Qanon shaman though? I’m only interested if she can also educate me on the ills of the world while helping me with my diet.

I am willing to say that part of my concern (personally) is visceral fat. Apologies to anyone this might offend, but you know those middle-aged guys who have hard belly that protrudes right under their ribs, but are otherwise skinny? That's exactly what I don't want. It's very unhealthy, and I see it a lot. It's something that men (and women) should be concerned about IMO.
And, like a lot of things in life, I could either do my own research and try to figure these things out or get a professional. I'm inclined to seek out a professional and get proper advice on these things, so that's the tract I want to take. I've read plenty and I get that it's "calories in, calories out" or "eat your vegetables", and if that's enough for you to be satisfied with, that's great. I want more information and more advice so I'm willing to pay for that and that's why I started this thread.
(There are also other factors and things I want to review, but I thought that I'd throw out the visceral fat in case someone else can benefit from that)

I hope you know my post was tongue in cheek.
Good on you, I face the same problems/concerns

Oh, no 100%, I laughed.
I just thought that I'd give part of my reasoning for why I am going this route, in case it helps someone else out. My rational here is quite proactive. I exercise a lot and I'm in good shape (relatively speaking, and for my age!). But you get it...when we were practicing rugby a couple times a week and playing games at 20 is a different world from where we are these days! I can just see what's coming in terms of health challenges for middle aged men, and I want a better outcome.

Is there any other kind?
I dont know what to tell you, she wears a giant furry, horned hat. So she is either a QAnon Shaman or the Grand Poobah of the Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes.
Ya takes your chances.

Not permabanned, but they were the militant "GMOs are evil" person who spouted scary clichés as though they meant anything and idolized Michael Pollan.
Going back through the threads is a hoot.

Focus on habits and meal planning.
I think there is a lot of merit to getting someone to help you meal plan, and help you create good dietary behaviors...
But what I was trying to write, is that there are a lot of people who want to feed you something beyond this, that there is a mystical state of ketosis or early hominins only ate raw food or that only "natural" food is healthy whatever natural means. All of those people are selling make believe. If you have someone whose plan doesn't essentially boil down to "calories in, calories out" or "eat your vegetables" then I'd look somewhere else for someone who wants to focus on habits and meal planning.

Ketosis worked for me back in 2015 when I was trying to stop being a fat bastard, because fat is filling and I love eating meat. It does dry you out and make you look leaner too without all the water weight. It also helps people that are dealing with insulin resistance.
But with that said, keto still ultimately works based off of 'calories in, calories out' and anyone who says otherwise is lying. However, there's a satiety advantage depending on your macronutrient sources for your calories, and it's important not to overlook that. You could eat 200 fewer calories a day than your TDEE and lose weight, but it's gonna be a hell of a lot harder and you're gonna be really hungry all the time if you do it by eating your calories in chocolate and potato chips.

If there was an 'All Pretzel' diet...yeah, that'd be great.

I am someone who found keto worked really well for me. About 5 years ago, I did keto for about a year. Wasn't really doing it for myself to lose weight but my then gf wanted to do it and went along with it for the other benefits (such as increased mental clarity).
I am more of a slender build but did have visceral fat. At the time I started, I was probably around ~195lbs, 6'1" and was in the latter half of my fifties. Played pretty competitive sports up until my mid-twenties but switched to exercising 4 - 6 times a week ever since then.
Having never dieted before in my life, I was quite surprised at how easy I took to it. The only sacrifice I had to make was some food that I could no longer eat but it was replaced by other tasty foods and due to the satiety of fats, never felt like I suffered from hunger. I can't recall precisely but I was burning somewhere around 2,300 - 2,500 calories/day (as per my fitbit) and what I was ingesting wasn't much different per my calculations (but I wouldn't say that I was super diligent about our measurements so could easily been off on that).
Ended up losing 25lbs in six weeks and actually ended up having to up my calories as my gf thought I was looking too gaunt. Did that and gained back five pounds. After the year of keto, I have been maintaining a lower carb diet that doesn't put me into ketosis but I've maintained the same weight; basically the same weight I was shortly after high school. Not bad for someone in their early sixties, I guess, but the best part is, I don't really feel like I'm sacrificing anything. I'm eating healthier while enjoying food and, somewhat importantly, have lost my craving for sweets. I was quite a sugarholic before. Plus, have tonnes of energy and don't suffer any food crashes after meals. Just had a full round of cardiology test and my results are extremely positive. And the visceral fat is gone. I dare say that if core weren't my least favourite muscle group to exercise, I could relatively easily get a six-pack.
YMMV

I think the best approach, in finding a dietician, is to ask your GP to refer you to one. That way, your GP, who has all the data on you personally, can be kept in the loop.
In my experience, getting rid of visceral fat involves, not only diet, but serious lifestyle changes. I managed to attain a new reduced weight level by having a heart attack, and getting treatment from the best heart hospital staff in the country i.e. at the Foothills Hospital. Hopefully you don't have to go through the same process to finally make the necessary changes.
From my experience, reducing saturated fats, less sugar and alcohol, becoming more physically active, and drinking more water are some of the keys to success. As for diet, I think all things in moderation is a good rule of thumb.
Also, as someone pointed out, listening to what your aging body is telling you, and seeking help in a timely manner is important.
Anyway, good for you for taking this step.
