If the top end was heavy (25+ goal guys) and you still have 10+ 10 goals scorers, that's a different thing but this indicates we have too much meh and not enough elite.
I think the fact that the coach rolls 4 lines regardless of the score or time left in game has something to do with it as well.

oh for sure the situation is far from ideal, but it sort of explains how this team can be 'essentially' a league average offence despite no 20 goal scorers and a few of our counted on weapons on pace for about 16 goals each- so at least we have some of our shlubs putting pucks in to balance out the meh top end

so in the last bit of the season does the top of the roster pick it up and then the production for the mid-bottom is nice bonus, or does the top keep spinning their wheels and the bottom dries up? (or both/neither)

as pointed out right above me though, some of it of course relates to the way icetime is deployed on this Flames iteration

In a sea of depressing threads in a transition season after losing two superstars, this one takes the cake for me for some reason. It's just so....Flames.

So what you're saying is we are in line for another Iginla. Well something like him anyways. The Iginla days are over. Tough as hell and score on you.

Plus he gave a ####.

Symptoms of the same thing really.
They roll 4 lines because no line has done enough to demand much more ice team.
Then all lines produce closely because they roll all lines.

If a true #1 line stepped up and made it impossible not to give them more time, both of these things would change.
Hopefully we see that in the 2nd half of the season.

We have a good chance of 20 5 goal scorer also. Isn’t that great?
