I was thinking that was more visceral fat than I would expect to see on an elite athlete. I seem to recall an earlier picture of another Flame (Lucic?) with a similar composition. Makes you wonder about their nutrition, despite having access to professional advice, because they sure would have burnt a lot of calories this late into the season.

I'm not surprised about looch. He's just a big man

Lindy mught benefit from getting more lean since he clearly has a bit of room for improvement

Maybe hes a naturally strong guy, but if he's looking to have a little extra in the tank come playoffs, maybe changing up his diet would help. As you say, they would be burning a lot of calories

Can't imagine what he's been eating to this point to keep on that kind of weight

Suggesting ways for these guys to improve their composition and performance as pro athletes is far from a body shaming discussion

It's something these guys touch on every day at the arena/gym with their staff and a big part of their day to day. It's a fair talking point

If you're extra sensitive about a constructive conversation on fitness, feel free to tune out

We're all looking for ways that our notoriously inconsistent team can improve. Evidently, fitness might be one of them .. why brush it under the rug because a few posters are uncomfortable

Also, welcome to a nerdy fan forum. This is what we do

I haven't seen any accusations of body shaming.

Feeling qualified to comment on an athlete's fitness for the playoffs and their diet, all based on on a vacation instagram post, is kind of the silly part IMO.

Well that's good. Wasn't sure what that post was getting at

A mid-season vacation from the highest level of sports. Not an all inclusive week from a desk job. It's not like we suck in our midsections all the time except for at the beach (well maybe some do). I mean we're not going to call out their tans because its winter. But physique seems fair game .. They're working athletes

As for qualified .. we need to be sports physiotherapists to read a person's approximate BMI? Most human bodies work on the same spectrum. And the science of burning calories is pretty darn consistent and not difficult to grasp

The silly part is making a big deal about it

I have a buddy at Orange Julius in the mall who says Lindholm comes in and orders smoothies with full fat milk.....he must know he's being traded and is letting himself go to spite BT.

Being ultra ripped in your core doesn't necessarily translate well to hockey.

He's still got definition.

That's just the hockey bod. Hugely overdeveloped cores and upper legs, not much of anything else. These guys all have six-packs but also have shoulders narrower than their waists.

Being in shape was one of the first things Darryl fixed when he came back if I remember correctly. Doubt he's out of shape. Maybe he swells up in the heat...I know I do and I am nothing to look at to begin with.
