Absolutely. If fans bought tickets to boo him then have at it. If this game is special for some fans because Gaudreau is returning to the Dome that's fine and understandable. To me Gaudreau is just another opposing player and I hope the Flames keep him in check.

It's a Monday night game in January. And a late one at that. And the Flames haven't exactly entertained my socks off this season.
Any bit of extra drama or storyline, I am here for it.
I'm going, and I am going to boo. I really hope the Flames don't do anything above or beyond a short tribute video during a TV timeout, because even those can be borderline cringey.

They're only cringey because the Flames, for whatever reason, have felt the need to do a "welcome back" thing for pretty much everyone that's returned. Even James Neal and Mike Smith on the Oilers got one. Juuso Valimaki got one. It's too much.
IMO they should be reserved for true legends like Iginla. Players like Gaudreau and Tkachuk weren't here long enough to deserve them.

Not a full video but a graphic and they put the camera on him for the crowd to do a lukewarm and unenthusiastic golf clap for him. It was bizarre.

Yes but they spelled his name wrong (lol).
They're done during a TV timeout so it has little if any impact on the game itself. I personally have no problem with it -- heaven forbid they do something to get the fans to clap outside of the game itself.
That said, Gudbranson signed a one-year contract and then left. He'll probably get lumped in with Johnny's video which is a shame because he literally only played here for one season.
