One time I brought up the topic of spoilers on CP. Now my family and I are in witness protection. Won’t make that mistake again.

Used to start at 5, so left the house at 330 because I lived an hour away. Got dressed, went outside, remarked how cold it was, got in my truck, stopped at the gas station, and realized I wasn't wearing pants - luckily before I got out of the truck.

Didn’t immediately heed the check engine light on my car and about 20km later, the piston rod took a chunk out of the side of the engine.

I thought the kids left a rubber snake on the kitchen floor so I went to pick it up.

Last summer I pulled up in front of my house and it was beating down rain. After 30 seconds or so I had my keys ready in hand and mustered up the courage to make a run to the front door. Got inside absolutely soaked. For the next half hour something just wasn't sitting right, just couldn't shake the feeling. Finally I looked out the front window and the vehicle was still sitting there unlocked with the engine running.

So. One time, when I was really young (like ~10), my mom was out of patience on the day and was a little bit heated. So I asked why she was being “a horror”…
I had heard it said before. I legitimately thought it meant “scary”. It went about as well as you’d think. Oh, and we had our good family friends over.

On Christmas I was a bit hungover and was prepping onions, carrots & celery for the stuffing. I had a bowl and the compost handy for the scraps. About half way through I realized I was putting the scraps in the bowl and the perfectly cut pieces of veggies into the compost. I do this kind of thing all the time, it's like my brain malfunctions and I need to pause for a second and really think about what I'm doing.
I also have a whole list of things (passport, keychains, etc) that I made sure to put somewhere I'd never forget, that have yet to be found.

Oh my god the op is me. Just the other day I had to fish a full container of 7 later dip from the can recycling bin in the garage and take the empty beer can out of the fridge. Years ago I left my lights on the car at UofA hospital, and when I was done my appointment of course the battery was dead. Couldn't find anyone with charging cables, so I called a tow truck for a boost. Two minutes later someone parked beside me and had cables. Got the car running, slipped on the ice, hit the lock with my elbow. Now the car is running, but locked with the keys inside. Had to call the tow truck back and make sure they could unlock instead.

What does this mean? I have not heard it said before. I tried googling it but all I get is stuff about horror movies.

He was young and wanted to tell his mother that she was being scary and didn’t know exactly how to articulate his words properly and called her “a horror”. In reality, and unknowingly to him, he used a slang term for being a prostitute, a whore.
His mother was likely upset.

Huh. I have never heard that term used in that context before.
Good for his mom being all up to date on the slang the kids are using these days...

Theoretically, spores of Clostridium perfrengins (a common culprit in food poisoning) could survive cooking, particularly for short periods of time, and at some point could germinate and then begin to multiply.
In this paper, the authors deliberately introduced spores and observed growth rates
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/art...202611/?page=4
Nothing in the first 150 minutes. (Conclusion being that cooling for 2 hours, it was still safe). And that is with deliberately introduced new spores, which are not exposed to cooking temperatures for sustained times, only introduced then starting cooling
For practical purposes, if it was simmered for a long time and then left overnight, then after bringing it back to a boil and simmering, I would expect you are unlikely to be at risk
I have, countless times over the past few decades, cooked meat sauces chili, and stew, things that simmered for hours, left them out overnight, reheated the next day and not once have had an issue.
Edit: this is not advice, of course.

You may be right but I still dumped it in the green bin.
