And throughout his career when Markstrom plays too often, he gets hurt.
If, and only then, will we see Wolf brought up. And thats not even a certainty as Vladar will get the starts. May as well let Wolf keep playing in the A and Dansk can sit on the bench here.

I don't think they are getting to any breaking point at all. It seems the Flames with his smaller salary and clearly serious situation, are willing to just give him whatever time and space he needs, even it means missing this whole year.
The most the Flames will do is retroactively put him on LTIR around the trade deadline if they have a trade line up and need more cap space.

How is he doing to develop sitting on his butt?

They bank cap space with penny squeezing attention to detail. If Oliver says he can't go this year, they'll want that cap to spend at the deadline

Trading Markstrom is a bit extreme, especially as it would make some players angry (if he is playing good). But I do think that we should have Wolf as back-up at the start of next season, nothing against Vladar but we barely play him and I think Wolf is a future all star and should do just fine as back up already. Plus we can get some nice assets for Vladar especially as he has 2 more years after this one on a good deal

Ok, so move Vladar, what is the return?

If they barely play the backup, why bring up Wolf then? The kid is becoming a terrific goalie in the minors, and he's pretty darn young. He doesn't need to stop playing just because he's seemingly graduated.

Or, keep both and leave Wolfe to develop in the minors
That’s the answer

I would rather Wolf sit on his butt and then move Vladar. I think the interest in him or Markstrom might be pretty good.

If he has a strong end of the year, I think a late first is a possibility, but also we could trade him at the trade deadline to a team that is looking for a goalie

Probably something that isn’t worth bothering with. Slightly better than what the Flames gave up to get him

Sorry, it seemed from your first post that you weren't simply referring to an LTIR placement at the trade deadline, it seemed more like you were implying something needs to give soon

There doesn't need to be any rapid decisions made between player and team. The cap space will be retroactive to all the time he's missed, which will give us more cap space for a deadline pick up, and then Kylington could still come back later in the season.

Wolf would still get ~20 games as a back up, that is more than enough in his first NHL year. I only suggest trading Vladar so that we can get some assets, because Wolf is untouchable

Ya you can trade him for a player, it is just easier to think of trades in terms of draft capital. You can also trade whatever you get for Vladar for some help now

You aren’t getting a single asset for either during the season . Why even have this discussion now ?

Trade him to Edmonton for Draisaitl and a 1st a with Kylington.
good trade for Edmonton with Campbell being the suck, Skinner already looking worn down and they Kylington would become their defacto number one defenseman
