Maurice has missed the playoffs more than he made them at every stop
Including Carolina, where he left for 2 years and they won the Cup without him

JT Miller is an absolute loser.

They signed this geek and are going to lose Horvat. What a poorly run organization.

But you're right, there are a few teams ahead of them that I worry they won't catch.
Right now you have 3 teams battling for 2 wild card spots: Penguins, Islanders, Rangers. The underlying numbers suggest they are for real.
Some other teams on the bubble are the Lightning and the Capitals. I suspect the Caps are not as good as their current record suggests and may fall from grace. I never count out the Lightning anymore, so forget that.
Really, the Panthers seem destined for a 9th place finish at best, but then again, there's enough talent on the team to see them rip it up and put themselves right back in the picture.
Lots of hockey left to be played. It's the same reason why I wouldn't count out the Flames yet either. I think the best for both teams is yet to come.
Now the Blue Jackets on the other hand...sigh.

Regulation wins and goal differential are good indicators of how good a team actually is / how likely to move any direction in the standings. Detroit and Ottawa are definitely pretenders by that metric, the Red Wings especially being propped up by loser points right now. Buffalo and Florida are most likely to climb into the race and stay relevant in the second half of the season. Lots of hockey still to play.
Even Tampa, yeah you can't count them out but that team's just been extremely good in OT. 6 extra time wins already.

It truly doesn't make any sense either. 90% of the time, the team breakouts with 5 players and the goalie follows them off. What an absolute baby.

Really is a low class move to a teammate. Ok, yell at him once (assuming the coaches are even telling the goalie to come to the bench, they probably weren't), but banging your stick on the net is ridiculously showing him up.

Yeah picking Miller or Horvat is just hard to understand.
They had the foundation for a really good core going forward: Pettersson, Hughes, Demko, Horvat, Boeser.
And they've really made a mess of it.

I was just going to say the same thing. Keeping Miller over Horvat is dumb if that is what ends up happening. It's not like this is new from Miller either. His attitude has been a problem for a while.

I’m enjoying reading Canuck fan comments saying that Miller handling the puck in his own zone is enough reason to not leave the net. (He also has a guy right on him, it would have been a stupid time to skate by him).

Outside of just the disrespect to his teammate, as far as I can tell, the one who did everything wrong from a hockey perspective was Miller. The goalie was already on his way out and would have been off as soon as Miller got the puck up ice. He also had a pass available up the left side he decided to ignore, turns the puck back, has a man on him, and then berates his goalie for not leaving the net? All the while killing 15-20 seconds. One of the most boneheaded displays I've ever seen. The guy just doesn't seem very smart.
