Nope. The offense has been MIA for many games and the team defense has at times this season has been really really poor. The Flames record is right about where it should be.

Our record reflects our play, yes.

But our goaltending has been sub-par, and it has cost us points. I think it would be difficult to argue against that. Meanwhile, the Jets have ridden possibly the best goaltending in the league so far this year.

Had the Flames had the kind of goaltending the jets have gotten, our record would likely be similar to theirs - a lot of close games going the other way.

I am not excusing or ignoring our poor play. But goaltending is everything in hockey.

With the losses for LAK and NAS last night, the Western Conference currently sits as:

5) COL +3 .563
6) MIN +3 .560
7) CGY +3 .558
8) EDM +3 .556
9) LAK +3 .552
10) NAS +2 .542

Despite all their struggles through the first 25 games of the season, the Flames are in a playoff spot and completely hold their destiny in their own hands.
