This actually a solid trade for Edmonton. They don’t have a ton of forward depth passed what’s on the roster and Samorukov is buried on the depth chart.
Doesn’t that speak to the poor quality both up front and at the back? No one would say that the greasers are deep on D…and now they have nothing up front?

It is sooooo Oilers to load up on forwards by trading a d-man. I'm sure one of these decades that strategy will pay off.
This deal makes no sense. Klostin AHL numbers are terrible. Samorukov numbers as a dman are comparable.
But imo the oilers couldn’t afford to lose depth at d. I assume Koekkoek will be first call up but they are in serious trouble if they have any time this year where 2 dmen are hurt
Pains me to say it, but I like this trade for them. He's big, fast, and tough, and still has vast potential. This trade could pay dividends for them in the near future.
