Now that Weegs is signed all that is left is to find a partner for him that works best. I really hope he can find chemistry with Tanev. That potentially could be a really good pairing.

Just need another legitimate top six winger. Then, I will feel comfortable going into the season. Who would even be available..

I can’t see how Tanev wouldn’t be a perfect fit for him.

Don't care about the result, but am hoping for a goal or two from the top 2 forward lines, just to have them feeling good and something to build off of as the season starts.

Yeah would be great if they could shed Lucic.

Would give them about $6.5M to fit in another top 6 winger if they remove Lucic's cap hit and use the $1M or so they already have.

This - been what I was hoping for since the Nazem signing. Plus Kalgri Kadri & Dube bring the speed on that line, plus a right hand shot to the 2nd line as well.

yeah I'm actually more concerned with hanifin and ras. they were rough in playoffs and looked rough most of camp . we need them to be steady and responsible, especially if they will be the top pairing

I agree on the need but I don’t agree on the timing. This roster should have no issues finishing in the top 3 in the division (1st likely). Top 6 winger is needed to make this team a cup contender but really doesn’t need to be done until the trade deadline. In fact, it’s better to do at the trade deadline when the Flames’ pro-rated cap space can purchase a $5+Million winger rather than try to find a cheap fix now or trade a valuable asset (Dman like Hanafin) to fill the hole only to create another

I see this as a bit of a battle between the same players really.

3rd line LW spot: Zohorna vs Ruzicka vs Rooney
4th line centre: Ruzicka vs Rooney
4th line RW spot: Zohorna vs Lewis vs Ritchie vs Rooney vs Ruzicka.

I think that's all the combinations anyway! I do think that Lewis will have the most games on the 4th line RW spot, as he is one of the PK'ers. I think Ritchie comes in for every Edmonton game, and for every game where the opposing team is big and tough. He also gets games when the guys ahead of him stop competing as hard and Sutter shows them what hard works looks like again.

I thought that Rooney's spot (4th line center) was essentially written in stone, but moving him to the 3rd line and now having Ruzicka try out the center spot leads me to believe this might be a bit of a rotation until someone really grabs it.

Mackey over Stone - not sure if it is another look at Mackey (who earned it IMO), or if they are really still evaluating whether or not Mackey should be ahead of Stone. I think that's Stone spot and he seized the opportunity more than any other defencemen, but by no means did I think Mackey (or Meloche) wasn't good enough.

Who else wants eat bread on the top line? I love that kid. His crazy t shirts , his motor, his attitude.....that bread is damn good.

Until someone can start shooting Huberdeau pass one timers there better be a revolving door until we find the right guy OR OR OR.....Jonathon needs to just start shooting because we know he can do both .

What a day fellas. Weegs is signed, last pre season tilt tonite, unveiling the wranglers new look, sun is shining and I'm drinking beer and eating a nutritious delicious lunch at Wildrose baby.

Go Flames Go.....oh.....Brad Treliving needs to be extended and we need shovels in the ground for a new building....someone please make that happen....Purdy please.

A note for anyone going to the game tonight, the C-train red line is not operating between City Hall and 39th Ave. SW.

Not only that but the 17th ave crossing is closed for anyone walking from the red mile. I’m not sure for how long. I think semi permanently until the new structure is built.

Either way, for the time being there is no access to the stampede grounds or the saddledome from 17th ave. You must use 12th ave or 25th ave.

And accessing from 25th leads to a massive bottleneck at the Ag building due to BMO centre construction. Getting to and especially from flames games is gonna take a lot longer this year.
