PK was always a blast to watch. Loved his personality and excitement. A shame his game dropped off so much. Wonder what went on, as he was definitely a top D in his prime.
Can't believe how fast time has gone. Seems like it was just yesterday he signed that massive contract with MTL, than the trade that everyone thought MTL lost but turned out to win, and now his retirement.
Look forward to seeing him in a broadcasting role.
I hated him slew footing guys but that was just him trying to keep up and compete especially after having back issues. I notice players doing this or similar tactics all the time when they can't compete at the level they are accustomed to in the past.

I imagine he could have caught on as a depth defenseman going year to year on short terms, but I think once you are use to making $9 million a year, it probably doesn't seem worth it for a lot of players.
33 is so young to retire, but plenty of time to get into doing other stuff. I doubt he gets bored.

I think that must have been a factor in his decision to retire. He could probably keep playing, but if he's at the point where he has to play dirty to be effective, is it really worth it?
Better to be remembered as the player he was than as one of those guys who just held on too long.
At his best he was electric, and it makes me happy to remember that.

American broadcasting can pay more than the depth defenseman contract offers he was likely getting and he gets to be in the spotlight and not wreck his body further.
