Nah he isn't.

I still remember years ago when I was 16 going to the UK.

I was driving with my uncle. At a younger age he was a semi-pro rally driver. However, everywhere we went you would think the was still a semi-pro rally driver. I remember coming home one evening and he came up to blind intersection. His only concession to that intersection was to flash his brights to let oncoming traffic know he was coming.

While the UK isn't the worst place I've driven (hell South Africa), it is not like Canada at all.

Just recently did a similar trip. Dont bother with an Oyster card, just use your credit card. Phone with Google/Apple pay works well too. I have a few Oyster cards all with stranded balances too low to use and too much hassle to reload when using a credit card is the same fares.
