Yeah it's good, this contract is because of last season though. I said it's a fair deal. We have seen a lot of these 'steals" this summer though and they won't all work out like some seem to think.

I have a feeling the reaction to this deal will be more positive than Thompson, but not sure why.

Perhaps when other people are evaluating players, they look at more variables besides age and the “one breakout year” checkbox?

Had the Flames done so, there would never have been a Huberdeau/Weegar trade, and Mangiapane would almost certainly be playing elsewhere.

Gaudreau at 8 years would have been good
Monahan at 8 not so much
Tkachuk trade was a massive win, it worked out better for the Flames than Tkachuk 10.5x8 IMO
