Is he wrong though? If you are needing a trainer to come out and attend to you, you shouldnt be out on the ice within the next 2 mins IMO.

Are you hurt or injured, there is a difference.

Keep in mind, they presumably also have to try to extend Debrincat next summer and that's likely to cost close to 10M. This is getting to be pretty expensive.

Yep, it's easy to be the team drafting high and collecting young talent...it becomes hard when it's actually time to win. Sens should be competing for a wild card spot.

The Norris contract is a complete coin flip for me.

But this one I’m pretty certain will be a bargain. As Scorp said, 8 mil is the new 6 mil. Mackinnon got 6.3 after similar production, and while I don’t think he becomes Mackinnon, I do think he has top 10 centremen in the league potential and that this could be one of the contracts that everyone knows of as a bargain 5 years from now

Must be nice for these Ottawa players to jump ELCs to big time contracts.

He's trending in the right direction at least.

Weird. I thought the exact opposite. Seems like a pretty passionate player who doesn’t like guys who play the game like soccer players.

I hope they suck this year and trade Bratherson to us at the trade deadline.

I really like this deal for Ottawa. He's young and he's shown what he can do skill wise. He's just putting on more muscle and he can be a force starting as early as this year. It's not a Flames thread but the problem with the recent moves is the length of contract given to 30 year olds. These guys are young and have shown enough promise to invest in. Giving high value contracts to older guys is a bad proposition in the second halves of the deal. Really gotta give Ottawa some applause of seemingly fing up year after year.

Add me to the group that likes Ottawa's approach.
No guarantees these guys all pan out, but they are at least facing the reality of their market and what will happen if they don't lock up their talent.

Well the Flames wanted to sign Tkachuk to a long term deal for his prime years he just wouldn't sign it

Biggest problem the Senators have is that their division is difficulty level “Ultra Hard”.

Not really. It's just a division with four really good teams and four really bad teams, and they are one of the really bad teams.

Sagarin's strength-of-schedule ratings, which I find to be pretty accurate, made the Central the toughest division last year and the Pacific the weakest, with the two Eastern divisions right in the middle.

Respectfully disagree. Lightning, Maple Leafs, Panthers would all win the Pacific if they were in our division. Remember Calgary's little Florida trip last year? They got owned. Then you have Bruins who will still be competitive, Ottawa which is rising, Montreal is going to be better, Buffalo is going to be better and Detroit who already is better. This is a very tough, competitive division and there will be no easy nights this year.

Ottawa is so bad their record against Calgary over last 2 years (when they were supposedly crappy) is 7-4. They are not as bad as people make them out to be, good young team that just got better with another year development of young men getting stronger.

Also we are talking about this year based off the changes in the off-season so I just don't think Sagarin's division wizardry is that relevant.

Flames beat each of those teams when they came here.
