It's a fair deal, it's not like he had any leverage
If he keeps up a high standard of play they will be wishing they went longer... especially if the cap increases
Is he that all world guy from the playoffs or were the Flames ridiculously snakebit? (Wouldn't be the first time in a Flames playoff series) Maybe some of both.

I was hoping he would go to the KHL so the Flames would never have to play him again.

I still have PTSD from that series and watching him. Good for him....he's a fundamentally superb goalie who somehow managed to have enormous horse shoes up somewhere in his body.
Just hope he too doesn't end up getting criticism from the owner who used to be madly in love with Marty Turco.

One great playoff series against a team that routinely chokes in the playoffs sure has people biting hard. It's almost like we've seen this story play out a million times

If he was average in the playoffs, this buzz would be non-existent IMO

Does this take him UFA as a 26 year old?

OK, but he was great in the playoffs. One of the best goalie performances of recent memory. What is your point?

Stars re-sign RFA Oettinger (3 years/12 M, 4 M AAV)

So, are you saying the Flames choked in round 1 and Oettinger wasn’t that great?

Yeah, especially not for a goalie. I doubt he ever turns in a performance like that ever again.

Imagine if the Sharks locked up Wade Flaherty to a long-term deal after his performance against the Flames in '95.

Small sample size and goalies are voodoo. Sorry if I wasn't clear, seemed painfully obvious given the countless goalies that have fooled everyone over the past several decades

I think if Dallas played any other team, we probably wouldn't be talking about this

He had a great 7 games in the playoff, even if the Stars wasn't playing the Flames, even if they played the Avs. He would still take his team to 6 or 7th game, he was that good. However, it was just one playoff series, who know if he is the flash in the pan, only time will tell. It isn't a bad contract though, $4M for 3 years is fair for what he did in that series alone, one lucky bounce, he could've carried the Stars into the next round. Or, if he wasn't in net, the Stars might've been swept.
