I would think that Pelletier spends another season in the AHL before getting a shot. His and Dube's progression have been nearly identical. Two very good years of junior after getting drafted and then basically PPG seasons in the AHL as rookies. Only difference is that Dube was "rushed" and was called up for 25games. Pelletier has done nothing to show that he would be better than Dube at the NHL level.
Lets not go crazy on expectations, Pelletier is closer to the AHL than being a Dube replacement or even making the team this coming year.
I like Pelletier but I can't imagine Sutter starting him on the 1st line. Dube is more likely to get that crack than Pelletier. At least for the first 30 games of the season.

Toffoli might be a good fit on the top line but Huberdeau is not Gaudreau when it comes to skating. I'm not suggesting Dube is the perfect fit but his speed could be need with our top duo.

It might be a good time to throw Matthew Phillips out there to sink or swim. Maybe he can be our Marchessault.

I worry about concussions with him, slowing or stopping his progression. How many times did we see him shaking his head after hits. Not good

Toffoli scored at a 44 goal pace the season before last...I think some sell him short.

That being said I would be shocked if there weren't more additions to the forward group

I'm a fan of Toffoli but also a fan of putting players together that compliment each other. Toffoli on the first line with Lindholm and Huberdeau is too slow IMO.

If we added a playmaking center, I could see Toffoli, Mangiapane and the new guy being a deadly 2nd line.

Would love for Dube to take another step but he hasn't shown he is a top 6 guy let alone a top line forward. I think Toffoli is your best bet right now, as he can finish and has proven himself in the league.

Top line was slow last year and dominated the league

Hopefully somehow they can call it the Huby Dooby Doo line.

That would be like putting monahan with them.

I am a big Dube fan, I think he could do it since his speed is a problem for other teams. Playing with Huberdeau I think Dube would pot 30 goals.

We need a speedy right winger who can drive the defence back like Duclair did in Florida. It would be great if Dube turned out to be the guy.

Agreed. Sutter loves him. I also understand why Sutter loves him.

Toffoli will likely get the first look, but I think Dube should be in the mix. I also think that he has shown more at centre, so he could be more of an offensive 2b catalyst

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Considering his agent’s response to the 2018 situation I think that needs to play out before any serious consideration happens with Dube period.

Can we ban all posts that start with "let's talk about"....

That aside, Dube isn't a top line candidate until he earns an audition. He hasn't yet.

Toff needs some conditioning which I am sure is occurring. Glad to have him here. Gem of a player.

I would agree that the top-line RW position is Toffoli's to lose, but I wouldn't be sad to see Dube there. I think Dube will take a big step this year, as he was dominant at times last season-and it was during the stretch run, when scoring goals gets harder to do.

I think altitude was an issue and he never got caught up. Hopefully that’s done.
