I love this trade even if I knew neither player could be extended.
We can trade them at the deadline for way more draft picks and prospects than we ever could have traded Tkachuk for at the same time.
That’s because Tkachuk extended as part of the trade.
Even if we only got a 1st and 2nd for each one, it would mean we got 3 1sts and 2 2nds for Tkachuk.
So for those posters lamenting a rebuild, not extending and trading makes this trade a huge win.
The only downside I see is if Treliving lets a Johnny situation arise and nether trades them nor extends them.
But that is really nothing about the trade.
