Yes and they all have an effect to a greater or lesser degree. No Tanev (plus issues with Zadorov and Kylington) when facing an offensively centred team is tough. Tougher than no Kadri against the Oilers, or even whatever was wrong with Draisaitl (that only affected skating back into the zone). Arguably Point out was pretty harmful to TB against a team that could then focus on one offensive centre.

The loss of Tanev threw the team into complete disarray.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I saw as well. But this seems like something that is correctable.

Chris Tanev played 547 games: 514 reg season and 33 playoff games with the Canucks

He missed 155 due to injury. 155/(155+547) = .22

in an 82 game season it would be expected that Tanev miss 18 games

Tanev's robustness as a Flame has so far beaten the odds. Had he been as roster ready for the Canucks for his last 5 year contract, he probably would still be a Canuck.

I don't think that recovery time decreases as age (33 in Dec).

There should be a risk management plan in place. Are Gudbrandson and Stone enough?

LOl. You can't forecast injury time per year like that. Different injuries, different recoveries, different teams and training. I remember when Backlund was expected to always mis big parts of the season and was "injury prone". Then in 2015 he played a full season and has played pretty much full seasons ever since. Out only seven games over 7 seasons.

I love Chris Tanev, but I was also secretly hoping that the Flanes would start the season without him, just to see how the defense pairs shake down out of camp in his absence.

It'll be pretty interesting to see how the pairings come together. Flames have some great defensemen.

Loving me some mullet and snaggletooth....but In all seriousness Tanev is pure joy ....who knew he'd be the glue that holds this team together even without that clusterf!@#$ gluegun Glen G...ha ha....Woodcocks sidekick up in the stink of the world....

Glad Tanev is gonna be 100% ....he's F ing awesome.

first lol, 2nd are you actually complaining about the Flames depth on D? If so there really is no pleasing you. Sure injuries would suck but the Flames have one of the deepest if not the deepest D core in the league

Good to see you've kept up with the team in the off season.

Ricardo's post was from July, before free agency even began.
