Canucks did alright with our picks:
5. We took David Jiricek, he went 6th (+1 spot) to Columbus. With Philly taking Gauthier over him. I also debated taking Gauthier at 5 but the more I read about Jiricek and watched his highlights the happier I am with this pick.
21. We took Connor Geekie who was falling in our draft. I had him 13thov on my list. He went to Arizona with pick 11 (-10) spots
39. We selected Ryan Chesley who went 37th (-2 spots) to the Caps. This was a pick I was hoping to get really good value on but he ended up slipping. Most mock drafts had him 20-30th, with highest rank at 14. However, he doesn't have that flash the other defenders have which probably added to him slipping.
I have since traded these two picks to Pho, but wanted to re-cap them anyways.
68. Tyler Brennan (G), he slipped to pick 102 round 4 (+34 spots)
This draft didn't have any top-tier goalie prospects. Interesting to note, Brennan who was ranked #1 on most goalie lists had 2 two goalies drafted before him: Topias Leinonen (was competing for top spot with Brennan) & Niklas Kokko (complete unknown, not ranked.)
92. Maxim Barbashev, we went 161 (+69 spots) I still think he could end up being a steal, but so does everyone with their late round picks lol.
