This will raise the Sens to 20th overall in the league.

Pretty sure Debrincat is an RFA next summer in the exact same situation Tkachuk is in now.
Ottawa may very well lose him after 2 seasons if he doesn’t want to sign long term.
Hope for the best for the Sens, but I do not trust their management at all.

TBF Chicago is potentially tanking in time for the strongest draft in a generation. Bedard is the cream, but the rest of the top 7 players are also unreal. Just in the WHL you have Branden Yager and Tanner Howe with high offensive upside. Of course, Bedard is there as well. Adam Fantilli in the US.
Lots of very, very interesting forward talent at the top of next draft.
Here is the tank that people have been debating about. This is what it looks like.

He bloody well should be. Ottawa is much closer to seriously competing compared to Chicago who hasn’t hit their rock bottom yet. He’ll have fun growing together with their young core. Much better situation for him IMO.

How did they go from the Seth Jones thing to trading DeBrincat in less than a year?

Looks like the Senators make out well here and it's going to come down to what the Hawks end up making out of the picks. If by chance this trade helps the Hawks become bad enough to get a crack at the 1st overall pick next season it will be worth it even if the picks bust.

They should move Kane then. Especially if they pay his bonus. He'd be so attractive to a US team with space needing the floor. He only makes 6.9 and of that 4 is bonus. He garner a ton.
He has a full NMC though.

Naw. This is a stellar trade.
Debrincat (24)
Norris (23)
Tkachuk (22)
Stutzle (20)
Chabot (25)
Great group of young players to build around. Much better to get these guys used to winning some games now than to stay in a cycle of losing.

Well that gives us an idea on the return Tkachuk would net. Worth it? Not so sure.

Someone suggested this in the trade thread, but IMO it makes sense. They are probably selling the floor out underneath Kane and Toews precisely so that they will waive their NMCs and they can trade them. Kind of like a "oh, you think we won't tear it all down? Just watch."

Now that DeBrincat is gone. I think Kane and Toews are going to be asking for trades.

This is a good deal for Ottawa.
Debrincat has already scored 40 goals twice and is 24. He is a legit top line threat.
Chicago are completely burning it down.

Seems cheap for a two time 40 goal scorer.

Now that’s a great trade to get out of a rebuild. Find a good RD partner for Chabot and then you’ve got something there.

Presumably if they could have, they would have.
