If the rule is in place for player safety it doesn't make much sense to allow play to continue in case of an immediate or impending scoring opportunity. It wouldn't be a pretty situation if the goalie takes a hard shot off the face.

I was confused about the mask rule as well. Mike Smith's mask comes of about 20-30 times a game and he always seems to get a whistle.

Yeah, you can't let any of that happen. Defence sitting back, odd backhand shot beats the goalie far side.... poor all around there.

Avs look like they turned into us. They seem scared and were passing so slow on that PP. They may win the war of attrition though as every Tampa player seems to be getting dinged up.
