Well, when things like this occur, the people in charge of making decisions need to be the one to take responsibility. They were targets for a reason, and deservedly so.

If Q is re-hired, that would be a huge step back. I can't see it happening. But it certainly is not impossible.

There was never that much certainty as to what the players actually new. Although there were lots of speculation.

I don't care if they had banned the whole organization and everyone associated. The whole process was a total gong show from the start and if Q comes back for next year it just confirms it. They needed heads to roll for political reasons.

Whether he comes back to the Panthers or not doesn't make a difference imo, the thing had nothing to do with them.

Same as when Q won a cup in Chicago with Denis Savards team.

Yeah I don't know that's kind of a stretch given Savard's .497 career win percentage as Hawks head coach. That's like saying Berube won a cup in St. Louis with Mike Yeo's team. If any team wins a Stanley Cup with Mike Yeo as head coach it will be the day that hell freezes over.

Is it just as simple as letting Burnette pick his own assistants instead of having to take on Q's.

I think more like Paul Westhead when he took over for Jack McKinney on the 79-80 Lakers, minus the championship.

So apparently it's Paul Maurice? Didn't see that coming.

Not sure how I would feel about this if I was a Panthers fan. For a lot of Maurice's Jets tenure the results were less than the sum of their parts. I think the Panthers would have been better to hire a coach that instills a more disciplined defensive system like Trotz as it's seems the Panther's main issue is playing a team game.

I'd guess Trotz declined because he's already leaning towards another place because I don't know you'd choose Maurice over Trotz if he were available.

Detroit and Chicago still need coaches as well.

Kind of strange to me that Maurice is choosing another coaching job so quickly. After he voluntarily resigned from the Jets during the regular season it seemed like he was burned out from the position.

Makes me wonder what the real reasons behind his WPG departure

I think he felt like his team was burned out on him.

Great coaches know when they've run their course, Maurice knew it was time in Winnipeg - He knew another job will come. He also didn't have the power to control the roster. Doesn't leave much of an option, He would of been let go if they missed anyways.

I love this man as a coach and if Sutter wasn't here he'd be my top top top choice.
