This data cannot be correct or Mike Smith is mislabeled.
Really hoping that he comes back down to Earth. Oilers being set up by a streaky Smith only to be pummeled by the Flames, when he returns to his usual self, would be fantastic.
Smith is going to a very motivated goalie against his former team.
Let's hope it doesn't matter.
Annoying that Flames had to slay the top goalie in the playoffs for goals saved above average only to walk into the 2nd ranked goalie in round 2.
Smith does have a history of going into the tank though, so hopefully the Flames break through early. Smith seems to thrive on high shot volume so need to break his confidence ASAP because the Flames will pepper him for sure and you don't want him getting in a groove of confidence.
Smith is always a little too motivated when he plays us. He’s a hot head. He’s going to lose his mind, and I expect to see Kostinen in this series at some point.

He always starts out slowly in the playoffs, and then he ramps up into Conn Smythe mode about now. Don’t count him out.
Came here to post this myself. It may have been Kevin Woodley that said recently that historically, Vasilevsky is more "gettable" early in the playoffs and then rounds into form as the playoffs move on. These stats bear that out and highlights the fact this series was there for the taking for the Leafs.
Now that the series is over I think we should appreciate just how good Oettinger was as we may not see a goaltender performance that good in a long time. Clearly he won't be able to maintain that extreme level of play next season as there was a degree of luck and the Flames low shooting percentage that played a role so it will be interesting to see if this was a career series or if he's gong to be one of the next great goaltenders as he's still only 23 years old.

Chucky's gonna rattle him with the trash talk haha

Top saves from week 2 of the playoffs as per NHL Network. Oettinger has 3 of the top 10 saves.
Smith was not listed.
3 saves for JO and 3 for Shesterkin does a disservice to JO as he didn't have a bad game the whole series and Shesterkin was pulled twice.
Marky makes the list twice and the #1 spot belongs to guess who? He wears red!
Flames will be fine against Smith. Nobody knows this better than Flames fans!
His most herculean effort in 2019 was awesome to watch, but it still wasn't enough for a strong Colorado team. I picked Flames in 7 but history tells us 5 is more likely.
Why does he get so hotheaded when playing us? A great playoff effort that year sure but another poster said it best when they said he is a bad goalie for all the softies he lets in at the worst possible time. That combined with his age and the ability to sign Markstrom, the obvious choice was to move on from Smith.

Well, the video is not titled "Top-10 Goalie Performances"; it is "Top-10 Saves."
There is no disservice when one or a few of those dazzling saves also happen to belong to a guy who yielded a few bad ones. That wasn't the point of the video.

Was the Flames's shooting percentage so low because they were struggling on their own to finish? Or was it because Oettinger was saving a lot more than he should have been able?
I agree that this series was probably too high a bar for him to meet next season, but I also don't think the Flanes made him look any better than he actually played. He really did put on a generational performance. It reminded me of how JS Giguete played when he won thd Conn Smythe and lost in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Dallas was a solid team that played a good structure, the Oilers are a better team but less frustrating to play against. I think we will see a few 7-6 games this series.
