They overcame so much adversity in that series.

During the regular season, they scored first 54 timed, and played with the lead more than any other team. But in this series, Dallas scored first 5 times. After game 1, they spent far more time trailing than leading. Here are the splits for the final 6 games:

Leading: 67:20
Tied....: 159:41
trailing: 148:08

That's crazy!

I was thinking win a series with two come from behind games ... (5 & 7), but yeah they did score first five times.

So much talk about winning a series in five and getting some rest, but with this team, at this time, I think getting dragged through the mud for 14 days may be the best thing that ever happened to them.

Hopefully Tanev can go ...

I agree 100%. That series was just adversity piled on top of adversity. And for a team that still needs to learn how to win, and has been mentally weak in the past, it was the perfect mountain to overcome.

This was a classic case of 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' IMO.

Yeah, this is important even beyond this year's playoffs. That was so big for this franchise - win a round, win a round as a higher seed, have to grit and come back down 2-1, play from behind, win a series in OT, fight through the immense frustration of a goalie standing on his head ...

It's really hard to get this kind of experience and to (hopefully) shed some baggage of being a team that reputationally can't dig down and win big games.

I love that the Flames experienced that and overcame it.

And now it is time to get back to playing with the lead. That is the recipe for success.
