Saying the suspension seems right, based off past suspensions only continues to enable the NHL to justify their “discipline”.
Doesn’t matter what happened in the past, they should be held to a more modern standard. No place in the game for this, could have really seriously injured the other player. Lucky it didn’t.

Honestly I don't think it was an intentional headbutt. More like trying to throw a shoulder but having poor body control and leading with the head instead.

so the best rationalization is that it was only intended to be a vicious shoulder to the head after the play was already blown dead, and moments after slashing the guy

And he didn't see the ice for the last 15 minutes of the third period, apparently.
When you consider that DoPS likely considered that the only two options were fine or 1 game suspension, I guess it's great that he came down hard?!?!
The good thing about it is if the Oilers are eliminated in game 6, they will blame the series loss on Nurse's absence and there will be no need, in their mind, to make significant changes.
