Back to it!

No complaints from Game 1, but I know everyone wanted a scoring frenzy - a massacre, if you will. Well, there's a certain relationship between Texas and massacres. And a certain puppet got his hands on a particular power tool:

(AC oughta love this one)

Spoiler!

Amazing job, Puppet guy.

You can talk about discipline all you want, but the fact is that the line for what is and what is not a penalty is not a line at all. Penalties are called when and because the refs want to call them, and that is primarily a function of the score, and 'who's turn it is' to get a PP.

If your team is leading, you are more likely to be called. And the larger the lead, the more that increases. This article shows how game management affects the frequency of calls, and how that is more pronounced in the playoffs:

Discipline has little to do with it.

Not really. Flames completely dominated the 1st and 3rd periods. Only reason Dallas was even in that game was due to Oettinger standing on his head.

Still think this series going 7 games ot, but winning game 2 takes those chances down quite a bit.

Yep, and it's absolute BS. I hate "game management". A ref got fired for it because he got caught on a hot mic, yet they all still do it. Even more so in this year's playoffs it seems.

That being said, I am confident in the Flames ability on the PP and PK. This team can really win any type of game that is thrown at them. I expect a more dominant effort this game, I'm going to say 4-1 Flames.

That's still something that shows to me how big of a joke this league can be sometimes. Peel didn't get canned for game management, he just got canned because he got caught. NHL barely tries to hide it anymore, just a don't ask, don't tell for them

Is it just me or is there a disappointing lack of car flags out this year? I was expecting things to ramp up this week, but have only see a handful of other cars with them.

Minimal flags for sure, I imagine once we get deeper and into round 2 etc more will come out!

I maintain that my car flags are cursed and I can’t put them on in good conscience until at least the second round.

Flags on cars have felt strangely out of vogue for a few months.

In 2004 things progressed naturally.
The red mile was born after beating the Canucks and a natural euphoria of winning a playoff series after so long.
I remember me & my brother feeling like going for a drive downtown after that game and low and behold many others felt it too and we all just ended up at the same place.
Flags progressed as the playoffs went on, crowds grew, "In the Dome" came out.

Just my opinion, but forcing these past phenomenon to start each playoff experience defeats the point.
If/when the Flames get on a run there will be natural and new emotions and expressions of them.
