To get to the Western Conference Finals, they just have to beat two of Edmonton, Los Angeles, or Dallas. They should be able to do that, and I think anything less can fairly count as a disappointment (and a calamity if they were to lose to Edmonton in the second round).
Whoever gets through the other half of the draw will have to either be the Avs, or beat the Avs. Either way, no shame in losing a well-fought series to a team like that.
So, anything beyond making the third round is gravy IMO. That said, I wouldn't be particularly thrilled to lose to the Lightning again if the Flames make the final...

I'm trying not to have expectations this season other than to play hard and not roll over and die.
I figured they should have atleast been able to beat Colorado and Dallas the last two playoffs they were in and they let me down.

Given that this could be the last iteration of this core, particularly gaudreau/tkachuk, it's an All-or-Nothing year, which really isn't fair... But unfortunately where I am at.

Don't really want to play the expectations game but have to admit I would be seriously disappointed with a first round exit.
And that second round sure looks like it could be a B of A. Would it be disappointing to lose that? To put it mildly.

My expectation is that they will beat the Dallas Stars on Tuesday and then we go from there.
I hope they go all the way but I'm just gonna enjoy every same as if it is game 7 of the SCF.
Go Flames Go!!

Putting out expectations is just a recipe for crushing disappointment.
I'm taking it one day and one game at a time, starting tomorrow.
I hate threads like these and I hope no one around the team reads it and gets it into their heads.
One shift, one period, one game at a time. Just win that next segment and worry about nothing else.
And that's exactly what Sutter would advise.

I won't be satisfied or say anything positive about this team until they complete a three-peat.

I will be cynical until the Flames can win two games. After that it is car flags on, so to speak.

Honestly would be disappointed without getting to the West final. Team can do it, so the only reason they wouldn't would be their own doing. After that, they'll start to meet teams that can beat them at their best, and there's no shame in that.

To be happy, I'd need to see a hard fought series in the conference finals. First round exit is a disaster. Second round is disappointing. A final appearance or a win is obviously a massive bonus.
With the talent this team has and the work ethic they've displayed all season, I'd be pretty upset to see an exit in the first two rounds. This team should be beyond losing to teams like Dallas, because they are getting pushed around and/or are mentally weak.

Nothing changes for me just because it's playoffs. If the Flames play and execute to their potential, I will be satisfied, even if that means an exit without the cup. Put in the effort and play to their capabilities and I'm good.

Losing in round 1 is a failure
Losing to the Oilers would be a failure
Anything else is fine.
Making it to round 3 is success
Stanley Cup Finals and it's epic

Dear Flames
Here is my heart. Please do not remove the bubble wrap.
We've done this before and you remember what happened?
Yes , I was hurt but I've learned to love you again.
You listened to my heart and brought back an old friend. My old friend is getting older and wiser and he still also carries the scars of 04.
He healed a little though since 04 as he's won the cup 2 times since and made some other new friends along the way and brought them here.
He says rather boldly that he intends on finishing some business.
Please help him obtain what he needs for this journey....see below.
He needs loudness, crazy Chris Sutter dance moves , car flags, chants of go Flames Go, car horns blaring, smiling unmasked faces, joy , hugs, high fives , low fives, around the back , Eric Francis asking good questions ( instead of what he usually does) 😄 Red Jerseys, to crush your enemies driving them before him and to hear the lamentations of opposing team fans.
Those expectations....or rather this small ask to just be crazy for the next few months so that the silver hardware we deserve and wants .....we needs our precious .....its mine .....my precious.

I hope they put it all out there and we’ll see what happens. And be entertaining. Only then will we really know what this team is

I think we are safe from worrying about players reading a thread about expectations and getting it in their heads.
There's enough pressure on these guys as it is. They have their own hopes and expectations. If they care about winning, they will be feeling it.

Well said. A loss in the first round or a loss to the oilers would be just terrible.

At least get to the final four.
Out in first round would be a disaster.

To go further than the 06 08 09 19 teams did. When they all choked. See what we’re made of this time.
