A certain GA outcome has eluded Dustin Wolf so far in his professional career.

I would like Wolf, Carpenter, Ruzicka and Phillips(!) to get some playing time tonight.
I would also like to see Darryl play with the lines tonight in the event things get stale in the playoffs:
Gaudreau Lindholm Jarnkrok
Tkachuck Backlund Toffoli
Mangiapane Dube Coleman
Lucic Ruzicka Carpenter

Wolf is travelling with the team, as is Ruzicka. Is Mackey as well?

I wouldn’t mind playing around with the middle 6 but the 1st and 4th line seem pretty set IMO.

I see no benefit to playing Wolf tonight. I’d be kind of neat because new is always fun. But giving Vladar another game has more potential benefit heading into the playoffs. If anything were to happen to Markstrom, it’s Vladar that will carry the load and any potential success will ride with him.

Tied for 10th all time after they win tonight.
And then he gets to move up the playoff wins list where he is already tied for 8th all time.

Rewarding him for the season he's had and giving him some extra motivation going into the AHL playoffs which is good for his development. It's not like not playing Vladar tonight is going to completely throw him off going into the playoffs.

Fully agree with Ryan Coke, if markstrom goes down in the playoffs? Who goes in? Vladar... so he should get one last game in. IMO its disrespectful to play Wolf over Vladar when Vladar has been fine in his role... plus Wolf has been rewarded.. with NHL pay for the time he has been up here!

In that scenario, however, your new backup goaltender has never played a game in the NHL. There's reasons for either of them to play tonight if that's what you're planning for.

And how would you feel if Vladar happened to get injured tonight and the Flames had to have Wolf backup Markstrom for the playoffs?
Vladar got to play back to back games this past week. I don't think he would be upset with not playing tonight. He'd probably be happy for Wolf.

I don't see any teams playing their 3rd stringers for the last game, generally is the backup. More important for starter not to get hurt vs backup.

I have to think that they recalled Wolf with the idea in mind that he would get one start. It probably depends a little on what they see from him in practice and if they think he is ready.
I don't think it is really disrespectful to Vladar or that he would take it the wrong way. He is a pro and probably understands that rewarding prospects with an NHL game is not a bad thing.

It doesn't mean it hasn't and can't happen.
Yes, it's more important that your starter not get hurt than your backup but I wouldn't want either to get hurt.
Again, Wolf making his debut tonight is not going to completely throw Vladar off if he has to take over in the playoffs.

I would rather play Wolf then have Vladar get hurt in the last game of the year..

Play Wolf and anyone who is called up.
Let guys rest and recoup. No one goes through an 82 game season without some bumps and bruises, especially with how compact the 2nd half has been.
It would be nice for Johnny to get 8 points and win the Art Ross, but I'd rather he be fresh for game 1.

I hope the Flames rest some of the top guys tonight and play some of the call-ups. No need to risk injury for a completely meaningless game a few days before playoffs.

I would be surprised and disappointed if Ruzicka didn't get in tonight.
