It's mostly useless in how a lot of people use it. But being the top of the league is saying something. And when looking at a McDavid, the comparison is more apt as well, since their deployment will be roughly the same - top line, not a lot of shutdown minutes (McDavid's overall ES ice time is not really an advantage here since an overworked player likely cheats on D).
