I am going to need a nap before this one, being in the East these California swings are exhausting to watch. GFG.

Lets defin them and leave them to die like a Chinese vessel off the South China Sea.

Not a great showing vs Anaheim despite the win. Hope they come hard out of the gate and establish their game. They're going to need to strike early to offset what I imagine are tired legs.
If OK is ready it wouldn't be a terrible thing to sit Zadorov. He's had a few bad games and might be playing hurt. Put Stone with Gudbranson.
Same with Lucic. If Jarnkrok can go, I'd sit him for a few games and let him collect himself. He's been slow -- even slower than usual -- and a giveaway machine for a month.

Are we worried about Markstrom's workload? He's at 56 games played which I suppose isn't crazy, but wouldn't we want him to play 60 or less to be fresh for the playoffs?

a lot of our guys need rest. I hope Sutter realizes they aren't cows.

Not particularly on my end, but I think that comes with my complete trust in Darryl Sutter. Really though, what’s to worry about, is playing a few extra games over the span of the next couple weeks really going to wear him out? There will be some rest before the playoffs, how many days off does a guy need before playing the first playoff game to be rested?
My thinking is that Darryl is focused on first clinching a playoff spot, then the division. I don’t see Markstrom’s workload getting lightened until those two things happen

If I recall, I think I watched San Jose win their first NHL game in franchise history against the Flames in some dive bar here in Calgary that's long gone. Just like the old barn the Sharks first played in.
I feel old.

Would really like to see someone shut up Couture after he chirped Markstrom last game. Time for the Flames to stomp this team.

I don't mind Ruzicka being in the lineup - it doesn't scare me to see him in there. And I think he has been fine when he has been in. However, I do not look to see him inserted in the place of someone else, I don't think he is ahead of anyone in the lineup, but I think he is more than capable as a #13
Ruzicka, Ritchie, Carpenter... I am fine with any of them, on any given night. Solid depth.

I would hope we see Mackey and Jarnkrok in tonight.

Vladar is on track to play about the same games (in percentage) as the backups in TB the last two years, and IMO Markstrom and Vasilevskiy are pretty similar in their approach and workload management.

Because of the Covid break I'm not as concerned as some are on here. That was almost like a reset to the season.
The only reason that I want to see Vladar get more starts to end the season is so that he's not cold going into the playoffs.

The thing about Ritchie is he won't hurt you, though he won't really help you -- his two recent goals being the anomaly. At best he eats some minutes and lets other guys rest.
When Jarnkrok comes back I'd like to see Lucic take a seat for a few. He seems really gassed. Ritchie could take his spot to, just to spell him off for a bit.

It should be a move made at the expense of Zadorov though. He was pretty bad last night and has been bad several times in the last few weeks to the point that Sutter has made innuendos at pressers as such "missing easy reads" "need to make that play" etc.
I'm not going as far as to say his bubble has burst, but I have not been at all impressed with him for the better part of the last month or so and he's one of my biggest concerns going into the playoffs if he can't get back to limiting his poor play.
Whether you push Stone down to the bottom pair or simply scratch Zadorov, it really doesn't matter. Either way, Mackey deserves a shot here and this is a good time to inject a new look into the D for a few games that could end up being a long term solution.
