Just fire him to Buffalo or Arizona (yes - same division but non-serious team)
Arizona isn't in the same Division anymore...

It's a backloaded deal playing $6.5M salary next year.

It's going to be amazing when Martinez recovers enough to play the day they have cap space for him. What incredible luck.

What a mess of a trade. Vegas sure is something special when it comes to treating their players special.

Wait, Vegas can make a trade after the deadline to make room for all of their players eventually coming off LTIR? Whatever they trade away/receive just can't be used in the playoffs? Like, they could make a trade in a month with the same idea?

The math checks out but this stinks to me.

Didn't the Flames have a trade cancelled because they were like 30 seconds late on the details

It's always been that way. Of course, half the league being over the cap is fairly new...

I just can't recall a time a playoff team made a trade after the deadline to free up a relatively significant amount of cap space.

Sucks that Anaheim would help Vegas out of a jam.

Anaheim dumps Kesler’s deal and squeezes another 2nd out of the Lindholm return and can flip Dandanov next deadline as a rental

Which Button faux paus are you thinking of?

The Broken Fax Machine on the Jarret Stoll pick trade from like 2002.

Or when they re-acquired Dean McAmmond in 2003 and they couldn't use him until the start of the next season due to some rule where you could not re-acquire a player whom you traded prior to the waiver draft or some oddity like that at the time. Which was when I first remember finding out that you can in fact trade a player after the deadline, but the player can't play for the team until that league year ends.

I think now they can have 3 of 4 of Stone, Pacioretty, Lehner and Martinez.

I'm not sure they can make the playoffs without Lehner or Stone.

I think Lehner is actually legit injured so I guess the other 3 can come back any time.

Actually they have a ton of guys injured so they may be able to get all those guys back if put Reilly Smith and Brayden McNabb on LTIR. Too complicated for my puny brain.

The best chance to throw the Oilers out of a playoff spot is for Vegas to take back 3rd in the division, so I don't care if their shenanigans work in the short term.

Shockingly I probably have this wrong. I'm not sure Kesler does anything for them.

That said they only save $3.375M
