this is so Tampa. The old Coleman/Goodrow special, giving up a 1st+ for an extremely cheap player with term.

Lots of windows closing soon due to cap issues. A lot of teams will be all in this year and next.

This feels a bit "sell high" for me for Chicago.
Hagel has played a lot with Kane this year, and I'm not sure his 22.3% individual shooting percentage at 5v5 is sustainable (it's not).
Still a good player, but I don't think he can sustain this goal scoring rate.

The funny thing is that if Dube was playing on a bottom feeder getting force fed 20+ minutes a night with Patrick Kane he would probably be worth a 1st round pick ++ as well. They are the same age and Dube has been statistically the better player until this season.

Blackhawks trade Brandon Hagel to Tampa for multiple 1sts

Yep, for now anyway. Hagel is currently twice the player at half the cost.

Strickland is contradicting Servalli, saying the return isn't much and includes a single 1st.

Dube has more shots, and more xGF this season. Better underlying metrics.
Only difference is Dube is shooting 6.98% at 5v5 (low)
Hagel is shooting 22.4% at 5v5 (ridiculously high), last year he shot 7.69% and he's wasn't a huge goal scorer in the AHL, so this season is an outlier.

I can see a 1st and a prospect, but "multiple" 1sts would be crazy unless something of value comes back too.

Makes some sense for Tampa 3 playoff runs with this guy at 1.5M

I sure hope the Flames never adopt the same model.
I know, the way the Flames have built teams so far has put them in mediocre positions for a number of seasons in a row, but as a STH, those games can be enjoyable as at least they compete.
No way I would want season tickets knowing that the team will lose 65% of their games for 5 years.

There was a large contingent on this board who spent all offseason saying this was the only way to build a contender. Quiet group now but it is what many wanted.
I see it though. Chicago is not going to be good for a few years. When they are maybe turning the corner they now pay Hagel $6M per season? They tried to fast track things with Seth Jones and failed so it is back to the drawing board. Multiple 1sts is a good return even if they are pretty much a lock to be late.

Hagel is going to TB with two fourths, for two firsts and prospects. Obviously still working on prospects

Raddysh and Katchouk have been really good for them as an energy 4th line, and 2 firsts on top of that.
