After Gio left in the offseason I had to pick up a new Flames jersey while back in Calgary for the first time in years, and chose Backlund as the current player who just, all around, represents the Flames to me. He bleeds, er, red.

I still remember the radio spot after the draft how Backlund was exited to come to Calgary, and was hoping for it, as he had played in the Macs Midget Tourney there.
