Hoping for a big deal with Montreal. Toffoli and Hoffman both would be pretty sweet if you could give the habs enough to entice some retention

Johnny - Lindholm - Tkachuk

Coleman - Monahan - Brown
Absolutely love that top 9.
I think one of those will be the Flames targets.

100% agree except flip Toffoli and Brown on those lines

Conner Brown checks a lot of boxes.
A less expensive option could be Adam Gaudette. RHS C who is a pending RFA....decent size.
I agree with most though....Toffoli would be a natural add.

Was Brown part of the rumoured deal involving Kadri and Brodie? Wouldn't be shocking to see Treliving going back after a player he wanted.

I certainly agree Taffoli would be a great add. But he's not a rental and we already have cap issues next summer. IF Montreal somehow took Monahan off the books that might still work. Zadorov and Monahan both have to go next summer IF we keep Guadreau, Tkachuk, Mangianpane and Kjillington. Taffoli would be great however he has 2 more years at 4.25 adds to the problem so I wonder if they'd go that way?
BTW big Monahan fan and hope he continues to return to form however it's a business and the other 4 guys need to be fed if they are staying here.
I'd prefer a Giroux however hold out little hope.
Depends who's out by deadline as to what may be available.

Nobody misses playoff games due to suspension like Nazem Kadri.
Though at least then we wouldn’t have lost Brodie for nothing.

Meh....not a worry to me.
Dude is going point for point with McDavid while playing 3 minutes a night less.
Really good player who plays on the edge....he just goes over it once in a while.

I like to look at it as we traded UFA Brodie for a signed Tanev.

If you are Giroux why would you waive to come to Calgary. It is not like the flames are highly ranked contenders and he is the final piece.
It will be interesting to see how many American based players with nice/ntc’s agree to come to Canadian based teams

When LeBrun mentioned Montreal and Ottawa, I think of Toffoli and C. Brown.
I think the Flames do one of the following:
- Trade for an expensive center (Miller, Hertl, Giroux, Pavelski) + call up Stockton winger (Pelletier, Phillips)
- Trade for two, less-pricier middle 6 players (Toffoli, Brown, Jarnkrok, etc.)
Sutter has talked quite a bit about how he needs more out of his centers behind Lindholm, so I'm guessing he prefers the first option. Trade lists and NMCs are going to be a big road block though.

The Flames have done really well against pretty much everyone in the league and that is with a horrendous schedule. The Flames as a team are very well positioned to make a run. They have a multiple cup winning coach, elite 1st line, they are one of the best defensive teams in the league, and they need a scorer on the right wing. It's a perfect fit.
Maybe the Flames could sell Giroux on being Sutter's new Gaborik. Add some much needed secondary scoring to a defensive powerhouse. Look at how the Flames control play... they aren't a fluke. This team is for real and I think people around the league know it.
Corsi: 2nd
Shots For%: 3rd
Expected Goals For%: 2nd
Scoring Chances For%: 1st
Shooting % on Scoring Chances: 25th
Goal Differential: 6th
Here are the Flames numbers against the top 10 in the NHL by Pts%:
Team / H2H Record / GF-GA
Colorado (0-0-0) 0-0
Carolina (0-1-1) 4-8
Florida (1-1-0) 7-7
*Toronto (0-0-1) 1-2
*Tampa (0-1-0) 1-4
Minnesota (0-0-0) 0-0
NY Rangers (2-0-0) 11-1
Pittsburgh (2-0-0) 6-1
Nashville (0-0-0) 0-0
St. Louis (1-1-0) 8-6
*Only home games remaining versus Toronto and Tampa Bay
Overall Record: 6-4-2
5 Home games 7 Road Games
GF 38 - GA 29
Also for Giroux, he is not a realistic option for the Avs or Lightning imo. According to Cap Friendly they are currently over the salary ceiling and are actually losing the little cap space they have as we approach the trade deadline. So to fit Giroux's 8M they need to move out salary in the trade, which seems risky to do to a first place team or back to back cup Champs, and they probably need to pay the Flyers and possibly a third team to retain salary.
Meanwhile, the Flames are projected to have $5.56M at the deadline and could do it with just the Flyers retaining salary.
Probably won't happen, but if it doesn't because Giroux is trying to pick a better spot then I think he'd be a fool.

I wonder if Timo Meier is even remotely possible. He is locked in at $6M next season, and he’s an RFA after that. I would be willing to trade any prospect, and most players on our roster for him. I have nothing but good things to say about him despite him being a left handed winger.
I think the Sharks will be headed for a long rebuild as Burns, Karlsson, Vlasic age. Hertl could be leaving this summer too. That leaves Meier completely outside their contention window, and a piece they can get a huge return for. That said, he’s more likely to be available(if he is) in the off-season or at the next year’s deadline.

Meier is awesome, but he has a $10M qualifying offer
