My dad said it's an existing tournament rule that any team that can't ice the required number of players results in a forfeit. I don't see any issues with integrity.

Good news for everyone is there's no relegation so the USA won't have to play a pointless promotion tournament and miss the WJC next year.

Aside from that, what Adam Silver said a couple weeks ago still rings true. Covid isn't going to go away. It's something that we'll just have to learn to live with, something most people are already doing. The vaccines are clearly doing a great job of limiting symptom effects considering most people are now asymptomatic or experiencing very minor symptoms (like my sister & father who both have covid right now).

Assuming by next year or 2023 that all of sports will just play through covid. Probably be some sort of rule where as long as you have your first (or possibly second) booster shot that you can play through even if you test positive.

I like what the NFLPA is doing.

Based on the fact that there isn’t a bubble, and it’s early in the tournament, what are the chances of them finishing this thing. Wherever the US team picked up their virus, it’ll be just as easy for the other teams to do so. I just want to watch some hockey. And specifically Canada vs the USA. Hopefully they aren’t out of the tourney because of this.

I can’t find the comment now but I read a Twitter comment from some reporter speculating that it’s the USA goaltenders. If that’s the case, they are almost certainly done for the tournament.
