It’s a shame we won’t get to see the best on best internationally but my opinion is nobody should be doing anything that profits China right now.

Curious to know how the Players feel about going, now that they have to basically live in lockdown while they are there, and worse if they test positive.

Any player that goes and gets sick should not be paid for time missed.
They are already playing in arenas with 20,000 people in them here, is Chinese Covid more deadly? What risks will they be exposed to that they aren't already.

I agree I definitely don't want the players to go honestly I don't really want anyone from Canada to go but that is awfully hard to tell someone who has trained their entire life' to be there they should make their own decision on the issue

I bet you a lot of players are leaning that way too.

Testing positive in China makes you miss the Olympics and have to quarantine for 3 weeks in China before coming back. That can sewer your season.

The current plan is for the players to fly to China on charter flights from Vegas the day after the ASG. The players don't have to choose between playing in the ASG or the Olympics (and I think most players would choose the Olympics if they had to make the choice).

I meant they'll party it up in Vegas and just get COVID there.

It's not like they'd test positive the next day.

It would be perfect timing for them to catch COVID in Vegas, spread it on the flights to China, then everyone tests positive during the preliminary round of the tournament and has to quarantine for three weeks.

Enjoy Slovakia, Switzerland, and Latvia as your Olympic medalists.

If any player were to announce that they weren’t going to attend due to the human rights issues in China, they would instantly become my favourite player(s) and I’d want them to be a Flame.

Going to these olympics flies in the face of “hockey is for everyone”. It’s for everyone…except for those who disagree with the CCP, those people can disappear/go to work camps while their children go into camps where they’re indoctrinated - hockey is NOT for those people.

Hockey shouldn’t be for the CCP.

Ah yes the “stop buying things in China” retorts. I’d like to see a Venn Diagram of people who thought the diplomatic boycott was toothless, people who say “stop buying things from China”, and “individuals have no impact on environmental change”.

I go out of my way to avoid it if I can. It's nearly impossible to find an assembly utilizing electronics that doesn't have China made components but stuff like hardware, cooking utensils, ect we definitely look at the labels as I have no issue paying a little more to avoid China made goods. I know it's not going to make a difference but China ticks me off so I will do what I can.

I have a friend who skies for the Canadian team and they were recently in China for a pre-Olympic qualifier. The stories she is telling of how they were treated from the point of getting off the plane to finally leaving China are crazy! They had an armed escort with them (turns out, not for their safety but to enforce the rules) that wouldn’t allow them to use the washrooms either in the airport or on the road to the venue. The team had to wait over 8 hours after getting off a 10 hour flight before finally being fed and being able to use a washroom. She says they were peeing in bottles on the bus. Anyway, I know cry me a river, but I guess how the team was treated from start to finish was super disrespectful and on the way back up to Canada there was discussion on whether or not they would return to china as a ski team to be treated that way again. Just my $0.5

I'll be sending a strongly worded letter to the CCP tomorrow.

I mean we could just all admit there's nothing we can do. Far be it for somebody to acknowledge that.

You avoid Japan made components because of China?
