One of the all-time worst Calgary Flames.

Enjoy retirement as a millionaire.

Still a better Flame than Neal
As disappointing as Brouwer was, they’d have been better off letting him play out his contract than buying him out.

One of the most frustrating Flames players I’ve ever watched. But I’m sure he’s a decent guy. All the best to him in his post hockey life

Brouwer was on that 09 Hawks team. I wonder what he knows.

Never forget Gulutzan's signature Brouwer play. What a painful time that was, and I was a fan of the rest of Brouwer's career too before that disaster.

I met him this summer and he was a really cool guy and super nice. I get why people want to dislike him because of how things went with the Flames, but I thought he was just a hilarious and fun person. I had high hopes when the Flames brought him in, and unfortunately it just didn't work out.

Yup, he learned something from getting destroyed in a fight with Beauchemin, not being ready for his lefts.

As with James Neal, after he signed a large multi-year deal he instantly became a fringe NHL player the moment he set foot on the ice for the Flames. It's why I am totally against signing non-elite players at 30 years old to contracts longer than two years. You need to fill those positions from within your system as the league is littered with busts like Brower, Beagle, Roussel, Backes, Ladd, etc. Unlike those players Coleman for example is still a player but that contract is looking pretty bad already as if he has any sort of decline from where he's at now it's a disaster.

Spotted Troy at Vancouver airport a few months back (with his dad maybe?). Dude was pretty ripped...I imagine he was hoping for one last shot at a PTO somewhere before hanging them up.

The way this guy got s*** on when he left town always rubbed me the wrong way, highlighted most notably by that awful Sun headline. Brouwer was certainly post-apex but we’re willing to excuse most other players on the team on the basis of poor coaching so you have to think that things may have gone a bit differently for him with someone like Sutter at the helm.
