It is the final countdown to another nuclear meltdown postgame show.

Kane scores a top corner underneath the crossbar, 3-0 Blackhawks.

The Kraken get on the board, power play goal from McCann. It is 3-1 Chicago with five minutes left in regulation time.

I can't wait for the case study on how Seattle ####ed their expansion draft up so bad... was Vegas just an outlier or did the Kraken think they could do the same and GMs got smarter?
Actually all I really care about is never seeing an NHL commercial with some clown screaming release the Kraken 5+ times a game. No one cares.

I miss Hathaway. Can't believe we couldn't match that Capitals offer or beat it.

The scoreless tie carried late into the third period. Hathaway scored a pair of goals for the Capitals to win.
The Kraken fell short of a comeback the Blackhawks hung on for the victory.

With the victory, the Hawks, who got off to an all world horrible start, leaf frog the Canucks into 27th place.

Vegas was an outlier clearly. They totally fleeced several GM's. Brad Treliving held firm and let Gio walk probably because of seeing what happened when teams did that with Las Vegas.
Given the talent in the upcoming drafts I think the Kraken are better served being bad for their initial two or three seasons anyway.

Bit of both TBH. GMs realized that trading big assets to protect people was foolish, and Seattle also royally messed up.
Seattle refused to take bad contracts, and that is what killed them. Pretty sure there was a rumor that St Louis was willing to add a sweetener if they would have taken Tarasenko - didn’t do that.
They should have been the team completing the trade for Gostisbhere - but nope Arizona picked up those extra assets.
They overvalued their own cap space to go try to make Hail Mary moves in UFA.
And in terms of getting teams to pay for protection…they messed that up too. If you could get Kylington and a 2nd to not take Gio…probably should have done that but rumor was they wanted at least a 1st and maybe more.

I may be remembering incorrectly.
But at the time were most people glad the Flames didn't keep him as they wouldn't have wanted Hathaway under the contract he signed?

I remember it the same. I recall a number of posters that felt that he was overpaid and were glad the Flames didn't match to try to keep him. He also is from out east, so it got him closer to friends and family.

I can't recall but I imagine I was happy they didn't match the term. Let's not forget it was fresh in our mind that this organization had been burned several times overpaying depth players like Bouma, Jooris, Raymond, etc. Hathaway is not the norm when it comes to players like this.

He should have been signed before he hit free agency. How many 4th liners test the market willingly?
