Peter Maher used to say remember there are two teams on the ice.

Rick Ball is the same, his goal calls are the same no matter who scores. Love that.

That's a stretch. This feels like 2 AHL teams playing.

Of course Oilers fans are preoccupied by electing McLoser's best goal on Twitter. It is clearly the most important thing.

I actually think he's terrible, easily one of the worst in the league. You can tell he's faking some of the calls, feels forced. Sounds like he should be doing the rounds as a ringside announcer at some amateur wrestling circuit in the southern U.S.

Did the Oilers not get any PPs in the first?

Good to see the Oilers strategy of being out shot and out worked on full display.

Part 2 wait for power plays

I watch the Oilers once and a while to truly assess them to make sure I am not talking trash where it isn’t true. Watching the Detroit game, the Oilers defense is absolutely atrocious. Kids on my sons U13 team play 2 on 1’s better than Tyson ‘No one knows why he isn’t up for the Norris Trophy’ Barrie. Holy moly…….

"Wait for powerplays"

Very aptly describes this season's Oilers indeed.

That's why they're kind of like the Leafs, probably make the playoffs but will get bounced in the first round. They won't be able to outscore teams when the refs put the whistles away and don't hand them PPs left and right.

I don't see much similarity between the Maple Leafs and Oilers at all. Yes, both teams are top-heavy, but Toronto doesn't live and die by their power play. Their issues in the playoff are almost all psychological.

Yeah I would agree, I would say Toronto top to bottom is a much more solid team than the Oilers.

I worded that badly but I mostly meant that both teams are top heavy and can outscore teams in the regular season but that never works in the playoffs. It's just too hard to score consistently.

anyone else watching the Oiler game in 4K? Has your picture been frozen on the stick rack for the last 10 minutes?

(which, I admit, is an improvement)

Hahaha McDavid and Draisaitl floating around the d-zone aimlessly there.

For "elite" guys they sure show some terrible ice-Q without the puck a lot of times.

I suppose that's your difference between a McDavid and a three time champion Crosby.
