Positions of power, the existing of "old boys clubs", toxic masculinity, and a culture of "don't ask, don't tell" is a potent recipe for disaster. And that's pervasive in many other industries too, not just pro sports.

I'm surprised Lou Lamoriello hasn't been mentioned as part of this stuff. Yet.

I would have guessed they were future allegations, or at the very least, committed yesterday afternoon.

You're painting with a pretty broad brush. ‘Sociopathic’ is not a label I would throw around lightly. Quite a lot of people are demanding, overbearing, callous, and ruthless in their work. What marks the sociopath is that he (or, not infrequently, she: sociopathy is not a function of masculinity, ‘toxic’ or otherwise) is the same way in every area of life. Some of these guys, I am quite certain, have a normal capacity for empathy, but park it at the office door because they have been taught that is the only way to succeed.

I can't think of a group of leaders with less diversity of experience than NHL GM's and coaches. Bunch of old white guys who played hockey professionally. I'm not shocked the office culture within some NHL teams is prehistoric. Many of these men have not been exposed to any working environments other than a hockey team.

What the hell? Based on what? Cancel them all! What a dumb comment.
If folks want to invoke "old boys club", then fine. Whatever. I'm not a fan of the broad brush. But I don't think it's a great idea to call out individuals like Lou without any info. At least I haven't heard anything. The guy is known for being principled, hard but fair.

He has a point though. Brian Burke is another guy who is as old school as it gets, but he's always struck me as one of the more forward-thinking guys out there who was probably woke before it was a thing.

Darryl Sutter was working for him when DS took the Flames job the 2nd time.
They are also close friends and former team mates.
Just because a guy is a prick, does not make him guilty of anything beyond....being a prick. That is neither illegal nor against NHL standards.
This whole thing is starting to get a witch hunt feel to it, and that should be the last thing anyone wants.
If Murray did something that crossed the line, then by all means he should be facing reprecussions for that. Lumping him into "old boys club" because he is older than many is just gross and reprehensible though IMO.

Actually you’re incorrect. Being a prick is against nhl standards, if taken too far. Being abusive is not acceptable behaviour at a job. Nor is verbally harassing staff. See: Babcock, Mike.

No im not.
But by all means be "that guy" if you wish.
Being a jerk does not equal being abusive nor harassing.

I think Burke is in the same boat. Both of them are intelligent enough to change their behaviour or privately deal with mistakes that were made when it is glaringly obvious certain actions are no longer acceptable.
Bob Murray also seemed like a complete knucklehead to me and one that Burke helped reform to an extent.

If he was a poor manager of an office that was going to lead to employees leaving then it’s perfectly reasonable to put him on leave and then get rid of him. If he is fired for run of the mill HR violations that would get anyone else fired there is nothing wrong with that.

Have to give the Ducks props for being proactive. They took action before there's a victim coming forward. This is the last thing I will give the Ducks props for.
Although, he might have earned this anyway from his recent performance.
