I hope he calls out and exposes the people still lying to protect themselves.

Theo Fleury and Sheldon Kennedy have helped pave the way for victims of abuse in hockey. I think John Doe will get a tonne of support.
Hopefully this blows the doors off the hockey "old boys club" and the toxic hyper-masculine culture. As much as I love hockey, at all levels, I'm always more than a little bit unsettled about the culture that lies just under the surface.
That also includes the endemic substance abuse that creeps along and continues to claim victims.

I would love for him to just start calling them all out by name, but until the lawsuit is settled, and depending on the conditions of the settlement (which there shouldn't be but lawyers gonna lawyer) he won't get into any individual people until then me thinks.

Now to come out publicly....incredible. With all the people who are in the same position, this will help others fight this battle hopefully a little better.
Also, every single person who knew about it and did nothing should be criminally charged, banned from the NHL & hockey in general, and generally considered an outcast from society.
Disgusting.

Curious, what would be the criminal charge?

Just flipped by TSN. He will be on in about a half hour if I heard correctly. Only got the last few seconds.

Negligence. And if there isn't a legal approach in place to address this, there should be.
Harm was done, people chose not to report it. In fact they buried it, thereby creating more harm.
To me that is criminal and deserving of criminal charges.

Agree this statement will rightfully apply to many in/formerly a part of the Blackhawks organization at that time, however there is a probably a point where criminal charges, banishment, and exile for periphery characters in this story would actually result in people in other situations less likely to speak up and more likely to distance themselves from a situation.

If John Doe is who many think it is, this could add a couple new layers to this onion.

Missed the details on the profile of the victim. This is a prime example of intersectionaloty. Between Peters' racism in Rockford and sexusl harassment and turning a blind eye to sexual harassment, the Blackhawks organization is a hell of a mess.

Can we print his name now? It's live on tsn.
Edit. Makes the 'biggest bust in Blackhawks history' stories written in 2013 seem really bad. No wonder. Sickening.

Wasn't Kris Versteeg on this roster for that season?

That young man is incredibly brave. I hope he gets comfort and closure from this eventually. And I hope he gets every dime he wants in his lawsuit and that the Hawks and people involved in this situation are forever shamed.

Kyle Beach was drafted just outside the top-ten in 2008. One wonders how this terrible tragedy might have affected his own development and potential for success in the NHL.

It'll be interesting seeing whether this brings other stories out. The league and hockey/sport culture in general needs a serious reckoning with this kind of thing. I'm super proud of Kyle Beach for telling his story.
Also, #### Brad Aldrich. What a ####ing monster.

My god, Kyle Beach apologizing on air to the player at Michigan for not doing more to stop Aldrich sooner.
He is the last person that should be on air apologizing right now.
My rage levels are rising towards these people in the Blackhawks organization who enabled a sexual deviant and covered up his assaults.
