So I beleive this is it's last year, I'll look it up again to see if I am correct.
Now was that just for TSN so that they could retain Sunday Night football, and get the monday night game as well? I wouldn't think NBC would be able to tell ESPN that they can't show their show when they want to....But this is the NFL, and that is the one sport that does have a lot of clout. Am I hullucinating, or are they also going to start the Sunday game earlier next year too. I remember NBC's reasoning was that they could get the game on earlier coast to coast and felt they could draw better ratings with an earlier time slot than the Monday Night game could. Either way it will suck if primetime isn't aired next season until after the game. At least we should still get Countdown in the mornings.

Peyton Manning's had to deal with teams putting everyone back into coverage almost, a year that saw him "number wise" get off to a slow start. Now he's one td behind the league lead and has the best QB rating in the NFL. I think Alexander should win it, but once again you can make a case for Manning.

Well Manning is a worthy candidate. But he has had the luxury of playing on a team thats had the lead all year. When you're leading the game it's a huge advantage in the NFL especially at the QB position. Of course Mannings contributions are a big reason why the Colts have been in control of every game they've played. But if Alexander goes for 2000 yards and 25-30 TD's I think you have to give the award to him because it's possibly the best season ever by a running back on a first place team.

Well finally found it, sorta.
So with NBC getting the Sunday night game and ESPN getting the Monday night game, they all signed new contracts. So the wording in the new contract allegedly stipulates that no station can air highlights of games they did not show, for a specified amount of time. Now that kinda confuses me as The Score, TSN and Sportsnet all show game highlitghts, but I'm sure they are aloud to.

Following that
NBC's "Sunday Night Football" will broadcast an NFL pre-game show from 7-8 p.m. ET followed by the kickoff at 8:15 p.m. ET.

Which may bery well leave the door open for NBC to air their own version of NFL Primetime.

Yeah having an hour and 15 minutes for what could be a 49'ers vs. Cards game is a bit much. It does look like NBC is looking to air some type of NFL daily review show though. Hopefully they get some good personell for it. I think it could be carved in stone that Bob Costas will be hosting it. Tom Jackson and Berman always were good together so thats mostly what I like about Primetime. The pre-game show with crack pipe Irvine, and Steve Young get's a bit much at times. Although I don't mind Ditka, the Mort report, and the Mayne event that it offers.

I also heard that starting next season (or maybe 2007) the NFL is allowed to move games on the schedule, so if a Sunday night game is looking unappealing they can shift it to the afternoon and move a more inticing game into that time slot. That should eliminate most of those 49ers/Cards match-ups.

If thats the case, NBC got a steal on the Sunday Night broadcast. IIRC they paid 1/10th of what ESPN did for the Monday Night game. If they can pick and choose matchups, plus get their own highlight show to air prior to the game than that should help them gain a good viewership for the game. How often does the Monday night game end up being a dud because a pre-season favorite/playoff team from the year before turns out to be a dud. Take Monday's Eagles vs. Seahawks game. If ABC had their way I'm sure they would have moved the Dallas/Giants, Bengals/Steelers or Chiefs/Bronco's into that slot if they'd had the choice.
