11/14.

I felt an instant 'click' on every choice but 1 and went against that instinct at least twice. I'd be curious to see if I'd do better if I just stuck to those choices

Also, before coffee.

I admit to often recognizing people from way back and feeling weird about it, so I don't bother acknowledging them

With one eye open, lying in bed I got a 12.

I don't know if I'd recognize my wife walking down the street so... yeah... I question the accuracy haha

With 16 out of 22 of us getting above 10, I'm not sure how "super" that makes us. Seems it would be a harder mark to hit.

I hit 7 which surprised me, lots of random guesses. I don’t remember anyone’s name for sure.

I think you should consider sampling bias. People who get a good score are more likely to report it than those of us who sucked.

9/14 which is like me, so definitively mediocre. I think that my mediocrity would give me a leg up in being the next GM of the Flames

12/14, just about what I figured it'd be. I always recognize faces, even from 20 years ago, but never names LOL

9/14 for me.

I'm similar to some of you for the face recognition thing. I remember acquaintances from elementary (20+ years) to high school and I can recall where I met them, but not always the names. I can even recall I have met certain clients/acquaintances I didn't interact with as long as I see their faces for a few moments. It's easier to recognize people from Jr High onwards as it's more recent but also I think their faces changed the least as they grew up.

However for this test, I think it threw me off that it was 2D and then alternate 2D angles/distorted pictures. It didn't feel as a recognizer test from that point on. To me, it felt more like whether you can create a 3D mental image of a face from 2D still, convert it to memory, then recall it and apply it like a pattern when looking at other 2D images of a face. Useful for the police line up situations (as mentioned on the site) if looking at one crappy security camera still to another. I feel facial recognition for seeing people in real life is a little different than what this test is though.

I wonder if I would do better if there was a 3D one/video clips to stills, but I kinda agree with others that it got boring and tedious half way through.

10 and I'm pretty stoned.

It'd be cool to have one with black and asian faces too.

Yeah, I wonder how much of this is built with a lifetime of training the brain.

Would I do the same with asian or black faces?

Does it change over age (i.e. the longer you live the better you are)?

Interesting stuff!
