Ok, what is this telling us?

Edit: Ack, I'm totally botching the Tweet embed!
It tells us that his WAR is 28% (29%?) Higher than Duncan Keith
(I have no clue what that means beyond higher = better)

Yeah, and he wasn't very good in those minutes. He was Arizona's worst penalty-killer.

Zero interest in Pitlick. So little that I couldn't understand any angle the Kraken had in taking him from the Yotes to begin with. Weird.

What the Athletic says about Pitlick:

https://theathletic.com/2720378/2021...pansion-draft/

Quote:
Pitlick, 29, has all kinds of attributes that will be appealing to head coach Dave Hakstol, including good speed, a deceptively good shot and the ability to kill penalties. He’s settled into a bottom-six role the past couple of years but can move easily up and down the lineup. He’s also in the final year of his current deal at a modest $1.75 million, so he could be moved for futures at any point in the season. -Scott Burnside

Pitlick was a great bottom 6 guy for Philly. Definitely would have wanted him back in that role, but he wasn't a priority to sign so he fled elsewhere.

Given how bad some of the Flames' bottom 6 guys are, Pitlick would be a sure upgrade.

Why? This team is frustrating. You could find some other bozo in free agency for free who will probably do just as good a job. Don’t spend assets on Tyler Pitlick. Please.

I like this. Ryan cost 3.3 mil pitlick is only $1.75 mil. As long as the pick going back isn’t too high

Managers and coaches lock on to one player and will turn on the blinders for players of similar caliber who might be cheaper and not cost an asset to acquire. They want what the want.

Death by a thousand cuts, but not a huge problem in isolation.

Ryan is significantly better, though. And Pitlick hasn't been playing centre in the NHL.

Would make sense and is totally in keeping with Treliving’s
MO of burning picks for pieces that ultimately don’t help the team in any meaningful way.

3rd for Pitlick.
3rd for Gustafsson.
4th for Forbort.
4th for Fantenberg.
3rd for Smith.
2nd for Lazar.
2nd for Elliott.
1st, 2nd, 2nd for Hamonic.

Sorry 7 seasons (full/ partial) in the NHL with 47 goals is 6.714 goals/ year. My bad.

Ryan is also turning 35 this year. Not sure how much there is left in the tank

Sure, but all I'm saying is I don't think Pitlick will be able to come close to replicating the tremendous amount of value Ryan provided to the Flames over the past three years.

I’ll put that one on Burke for the most part.

100% agreed. I’d be much happier to see Ryan extended than to see this team spend an asset on a player like Pitlick.
