Patrick was the chip being thrown in in a Gaudreau deal, so possibly a good sign that the Flames can retain Gaudreau?

It depends on what Patrick ends up being. That is why I said it could be really bad. Is the difference between Myers and Ellis a #1C? Not saying Patrick realizes that but the potential is there.

Well I don't think highly of Patrick, so I put that caveat in there. Not surprised to see him swapped again. Think he's damaged goods.

I like this a lot of for Nashville. Ellis is good, but Myers and Glass is a great return. Could be a couple of really nice building blocks for them over the next years.

Long term I think you’re correct. Short term I think this helps Philly more. And I think they want one more kick in the can before Couts and Giroux deals.

Yes, in the short term this favours the Flyers. I just was saying this might look bad down the road.

Good on the Flyers for cutting bait with Patrick before his worth dwindled further. Ellis probably has four good years left in the tank.

I really like what Nashville did today. Granted I’m not a huge Ellis fan.

Myers was at Flames development camp. They let him walk & Philly signed him.

Ellis doesn't seem to be a fan of getting dealt on Twitter.

YES.
Love it. Ellis has some injury concerns, but is a legit top pairing guy on a reasonable contract. He is exactly what the Flyers need.
Myers had a down year. He has size and is still young, but shows low hockey IQ and takes a lot of dumb penalties. He will be missed, but is expendable with Zamula and Cam York in the pipeline.
Patrick was downright terrible last year, so there are serious questions whether he is even an NHL player. The Flyers have a team that can compete now, so it's fine to give up on him. I still wish him the best and hope he can become a productive player.

No this isn’t accurate
When a player attends a camp the team has no rights to the player
They remain a free agent
He chose to sign elsewhere
He had zero obligation to the Flames who did have interest in him
This stuff gets stated inaccurately regularly

One thing I continue to extoll is that, in sports, never underestimate the power of Spite.

True. Though I think some people are just upset when this happens that they had an NHL player right under their noses but didn't sign him.

Another good point:
Ellis' veteran leadership should be a big plus. Ellis was being considered for the Captain before it went to Josi. Giroux/Voracek/Hayes are all loose, easy-going personalities. Their other letters are Couturier/Provorov, who are more strong silent types. This is filling a definite need.

Dev camps can be great ways to build a relationship with prospects. Sometimes it works (Mackey) and sometimes it doesn’t

Watch him become a dish washer at the Hard Rock Hotel. Low talent, low GAF, and low outcome player. Vegas can afford to gamble, but they’re rolling snake eyes on this one.

Well if anything, this might signal that Vegas isn’t going after Eichel. That was my nightmare scenario.
